by BarryWhiteRFC » 21 May 2009 14:58

Hi people, I'm too lazy to find out, but have we ever beaten Blackburn Rovers in our history? Thanks in advance (Strap).

Thank you very much all. Anyone at the game where we won 4-0? Did we play well and crush them or was it a flattering 4-0?

Paul Canoville was apparently superb.

Yes, I was at that game I think.
A few players in that Blackburn side went on to better things.
Ours didn't really.

Aren't Arsenal the only team in the top 4 tiers of English football who we have never beaten? (of those we have played of course - before anyone says "Burton Albion")

Yet, by the standards that are oft used on here to justify 'big club' status we can match them in some areas. Our average gate in the PL matches them, we beat them for ST holders (or at least come close) etc etc. No, we have never been in Europe, or won the PL so can't even dream to compare on the pitch - but .....

Let it not go unnoticed that Balckburn have just slashed their ST prices because they can't sell enough and are aiming for a volume v price change.

I did indeed go. A long ball fest under the lights. Could be wrong about the lights not the tactics though.

I do remember it. Blackburn were a side on their way down from better things, and still had some decent players (Some Irish internationals?), but Reading, unusually for that period, totally outclassed them - which is why it stuck in my memory.

This match has cropped up recently (edit - well, over a year ago but it seemed more recent....):

Unfortunately Strap's scans of photos of the game from a later programme appear to no longer function.
