Do you mean most successful who has left us recently? If so, will turn out to be Simon Cox - no argument at all.

If it's those still at the club, Pearce probably holds the accolade for now, although Karacan has potential and Simon Church is starting to get noticed. Hopefully James Henry will knuckle down and take his place o teh wing for us next saeason so we actually get to start matches with 11 footballers on the pitch for us for a change, and Baggie is going to be a big star in the not too distant future. Hopefully it'll be with us and not Swindon or elsewhere.

Letting Cox go for £200k was the worst bit of Business Sir Steve did whilst with us, and that includes the signing of Kebe. Yes I know Cox wanted 1st team football etc etc, but just a little bit more man management might have meant he would have been a 1st XI forward for us next year. It was pretty cxlear to anyone watching the FAC game v Spurs that Cox had something. Oh well, it's in the past. Just hope it's a lesson learnt.

All the ones Coppell's sold thus far.

Hopefully it'll be Karacan, Pearce, Henry and Kelly now he's gone.

How recent is "recent"? Allow a little latitude and it's got to be Neil Webb.

But it shows how the money in football has changed in 20 years - you can't see any of today's Man Utd first-teamers having to work as a postie when they retire.

Stuart Lovell? Scott Taylor? Adie Williams?

More recently, Darius is a good shout. Simon Cox is turning out to be a cracking player for Swindon. Nathan Tyson has unfulfilled potential.

Does Nicky Shorey count as a youngster? And Shane Long hasn't done too badly considering he was bought and shoved straight into the academy.

I saw Cox play last season and without going into a scouting report he looked really good. Is there a sell on clause regarding his transfer to Swinedon and could it be a factor in an attempt by our new manager to resign him?

Well Coxy is a local lad and pretty sure he would welcome a move to Reading, with first team football, on the table.

I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that if an offer is accepted for him, we have the opportunity to match it before he can discuss terms with a potential new club.

I could be well far of the mark, but the above just seems faimilar for some reason.

I'd love to see Cox back here. I mean really love it. He's a local, and has scored some world class goals thus far. And I mean that with the utmost seriousness.

Anyone who is yet to see his strikes against Fenebache and Walsall is missing out.

When was the last time we saw someone with the ability to do the unbelievable play regularly at the Madejski?

Mike Riley regularly does the unbelievable when he's at the Madejski (and a lot of other football stadia).

Its pretty good for its level. Could do better but I think every side should think that of its academy.

I think Simon Cox is the one that we're going to miss. Its aactually a pretty common story of a player being at a team in the Premieship, dropping down to get games and experience and then working his way back up.
