Kettering or Tooting and Mitcham

by weybridgewanderer » 14 Jul 2009 14:10

I see we have 2 pre season friendlies at the same time on Saturday.

Has there been any indication how the squad will be split between the 2 games?

Nope, probably wont know until Friday, i'm guessing.

Only thing that i've heard is that both will be a mix of 1st team and youngsters.

Which is likely to be the most attended of the two? I'm at Kettering personally.

If they're close enough he splits the two. I remember a few years ago we had a split friendly evening at, correct if wrong, Forest Green Rovers and Team Bath. He went to The Lawn, stayed there for 20 minutes and then drove to Twerton Park in time for the last 20 or so minutes of the Team Bath game.

How he copes with this one I don't know, but I'm guessing he only goes to one.

I'm going to the Tooting one as I live nearby.

I think the admission is a tenner for that one. Although I didn't understand their website either.

I'll be at the Tooting and Mitcham one as I am about 2 minute drive from the ground.

I expect the Kettering game to have more of the first teamers though.

The stronger squad will travel to Kettering with Brendan

Nigel Gibbs will take charge of the remaining players at Tooting

Thats what I thought it might be, same as a couple of years back when the Tooting and Mitcham game was doubled up with another game.

Shame though, as I would have liked to see more of the first team without the usual 3 hour round trip on a Saturday afternoon to Reading or a trip to near unsightly Croydon Town.

Paul Black maintains that he doesn`t do friendlies.
There are no decent pubs in Mitcham, I shall be in The Alexandra in Wimbledon and then decide to stay or go to the game.

Kettering for me. 20 minutes by road from my place. Looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces, and a few youngsters. Only hope the weather cheers up a bit by then.

There is absolutely NOTHING to say positive about Mitcham these days. I went back there 6 years or so ago and to describe it as a shit hole would be too kind.

A bit harsh me thinks especially as you havent been there for 6 years. .....admitedly it is a small town that doesn't have great deal there, but it is in decent enough nick compared to a lot of london borough towns,,, hardly a shit hole.
