+1. Only change would be Smith assuming we get him.

Karacan will have to start. Bossed Sidwell in the Testimonial... i know only a poor friendly but Sidwell wasn't pulling out of anything.

Church to start up front with hopefully a new striker and Matejovsky in behind them. Robson-Kanu to start too.

But Sidders did most of it with a smile on his face....he even "hammed" it up a few times if you were clever enough to notice (great player and one who I would sell my house to watch in the hoops once again).

I would have a few Gunnars on the bench next season...just in case.

Much as 18 months down the line that might be an awesome set-up (with Bikey or a new CB in for Cisse)

I do wonder whether when it comes to real week-to-week battling that team could cope

sorry, i think sidders showed us what we miss, tackled all over the park, was aggresive, won the ball in his own box and was in the box at the other end when the cross came in

We need Tabbster in there for a bit of bite, so Kara might have to wait a while.

4-3-3, with no Armstrong, sadly:-

So you've left out our current seniors in Gunnar and Ivar? That makes sense

Ivar won't be fit before September. Gunnar? Yeah, there's a case for his inclusion in a five-man midfield.

Could well be right. I think forest will provide us with a shock first game up, they are building an impressive squad (blackstock has signed on now)

My outside bet for playoffs/promotion

One person puts Bikey in the line-up. What's wrong with the rest of you? Imbeciles.

He's suspended.

With Forest signing another striker I'd like to see Reading try and re -sign Tyson who is a much improved striker than when he was last here and i think he'd jump at the chance. The forward line is too inexperienced and too inconsistant as it currently stands to be any better than a lower end of the table side. Especially with some of the teams in the league splashing the cash + of course the 3 teams coming down who are all stronger than the previous years relegated teams.

I am all for the youth being given a go but it has to be a balance and at the minute we are way off having the right balance. I would really ideally like rodgers to step his game up in the hunt for new players because we still lack a decent winger, forwards I've already mentioned and as it stands we have bugger all defensively.

Reading going into the season with this current squad I think you can honestly forget about a top 6 place.

True, but Rodgers has said on a few occasions that he wants 3-4 more players, and that he has identified targets for Hammond's boys to chase. It's tough being patient when you see other teams strengthening, but so far I can't think of one rival's signing that has made me green with envy. I do think we need to bide our time before judging Rodgers's approach to the market.
