NO LONGER A RUMOUR - Gregorz Rasiak

by UpNorth » 28 Jul 2009 12:56

Rumours are few and far between at the moment so this one in the Daily Star is worth noting.

boss Alan Pardew has admitted failure in his bid to keep Reading and Swansea target Grzegorz Rasiak, 30, at St Mary’s.

The Poland international player impressed Pardew on Saturday when he netted two goals in the club's 3-o pre-season friendly win over Hearts.

Would be a good signing though - he's a proven goalscorer and is an out and out striker.

Thought Rasiak was a cracking player back in the days before our promotion. But then so was Helguson. Sometimes players just can't carry it through. And he really hasn't set the world alight recently.

He'd be ok, in my opinion, not a lot more.

 because there's a huge market of talented strikers that are within our means, right?

Scored 8 goals for Watford since Rodgers went there last season - I'd take that sort of return as it levels out at about 15 goals a season.

Like I said, he'd be ok. But there's no knowing if he'd replicate that form, be able to extend it over a whole season. Waterever.

At least Rodgers knows him, so if he wants him that's good enough for me for the moment.

You can tell it is a quiet pre-season in Reading when the nobbers start creaming their pants when they stumble upon transfer rumours in the Daily Star.

War chest or not, we shouldn't be signing players that aren't better than we have now just because we can.

RUMOUR - Welcome Rasiak

by Big Foot » 30 Jul 2009 11:09

Been told by a pal of mine that we're set to sign Greogrsz Rasiak, not sure on the fee.

I'd be happy having him & N Hunt up front next season

Despite our preferred formation being 4-3-3... Unless you plan on playing one of the two out wide somewhere?
