Give Mooney A Chance!

by SteveRoyal » 19 Aug 2009 09:31

When we brought Mooney over from Cork, the Cork fans a few of us know told us that he was better than Doyle was.
His loan at Norwich proved that he is a natural goalscorer - and his second goal against Burton showed that he is a goal poacher, too. Something we've missed recently.
Doyle was relatively unproven when he was given his chance, so why isn't Mooney being given a chance?
He might be the only one capable of being the lone striker. Our tallest striker at 6ft, and probably able to hold the ball up.
We've run out of attacking options until Noel is fully fit.

It's almost as if Rodgers doesn't want to play anyone that Coppell actually signed - and is keen on the youngsters because he was previously involved in the academy. he's got to swallow his pride imho.

As we sit here today we could do no worse than bring Forster back in the lone role, thats how bad it is.

I don't know very much about him but his loan spell at Norwich proved he could do it at this level, even on a sinking ship. Give him a chance and he could fire us up the table

He has to be given a chance - what other options do we have? Mr Rodgers must consult his Big Book of Soccer Tactics for confirmation of this.

First time I read this post I thought  . Every subsequent read, I actually agree more and more. It couldn't be any worse. At least he could hold the ball up.

When he came on against Chelsea, my first reaction was that he doesn't even look like a footballer. He has the build of a sociology student who does stand-up in his spare time. But he certainly knew how to pick a pass, and had plenty of intelligence when it came to making runs off the ball. And it appears he can finish too. So I agree, let's give the chap a chance.

He could be our new non ginger DK.

Give Bignall a run out too, can't do any worse than Longy and has more pace.

He looked average pace wise and a little frail , but for the 1 game he's been given a chance in he looked intelligent, can pass, can control, good movement, and can finish.

Wait a minute..............those are too many good attributes for a Reading striker this season SELL HIM.

So 90 minutes (top-rated) and 26 minutes (almost changed the game), he's had a fair crack has he? Church has played twice as many minutes and not got a shot away.

But Mooney, definitely worth a crack. So is 442

I must admit i'm baffled as to why Mooney hasn't been given a chance by Rodgers yet. We're desperately lacking a goal scorer and the guy has proven he can score at this level.

I think he will play the league cup game against Barnsley next week and we will see how he does then against another Championship side.

Taking what I have seen so far this season, I am not so sure changing "up top" is totally the answer, as I stated elsewhere, the service into the front line, once again is poor, and that needs addressing before we chop and change up top.

Federici, Rosenoir, Tabb, Cisse, Hunt despite being injured, Long, Kebe, Matejovsky for a run out against Burton....how many more Coppell signings should he be playing RL?

Armstrong has been injured, as has Matejovksy and Hunt.

Gunnarsson is the only one he hasn't given a run out too!

Rosenior and Kebe were the worst players on the pitch on Saturday and apparently Harper had a nightmare and we looked weaker when he came on last night. Funny how the players Coppell signed are actually the worst yet you choose to ignore this, but then again you're not the brightest of people so I didn't expect you to pick up on this.

Is there really any need for silly disparaging remarks? Have I made any personal comments to you or anyone else on this thread? Grow up.

Who do we have left in the squad who is also fit who could replace Rosenior and Kebe?

Rosenior the worst on Sat????????? He and Bertrand were the only 2 players to have any kind of respectable game.

What a total helmet you are.

In fact, for the hard of reading, my post starts "It's ALMOST as if" I have never said it was fact - just trying to find an explanation as to why things are seemingly not right.
