Preston prediction thread

by Compo's Hat » 28 Sep 2009 01:42

I have stupidly booked time off work to go to this but have been rather clever to make the most of a couple of days off thanks to gr8 m8 handbags having his old man living down the road.

Anyway, i predict i will have drunk lots of real ale (can't run the risk of watching RFC sober at the moment!) by the time Brendon has made a couple of changes to the starting XI again. Hopefully we haven't seen Jobi (real name Joel) McAnuff's best game already and that the two centre half's deal with the two big lumps well.

Already happy to take a point but i think it will be a 2-1 loss.

Totally a 4-0 home win. Deepdale difficult enough as it is and relegation form does not help.

Wasn't it only lasty season we were given no chance at all away at Wolves? I think we'll sneak this one 1-0. Preston will have someone red-carded. (As teams against us usually do just recently).

I'd not say this is quite as much of a home banker as most people are saying.

Away from the MadStad and the spectre of "no wins since January" - and without the fear of the reaction of sections of the East Stand if anyone makes a mistake - the players can relax a bit without so much pressure on. Everyon'es written them off, they might just surprise a few people.

I think the form table disagrees with you:
.....

What do you predict will happen when the top form teams meet the bottom form teams? ...oh

.....

We will most likely lose our next four matches.

Fair enough - you're right. We might as well not bother to travel, eh? - let's just give over the 3 points and save the petrol money, because all football matches always go exactly to form, don't they?

In the meantime, I presume you're able to live off sports betting, because everything always goes so exactly to form it must be easy to make a packet.

Read what I actually said before posting, and reply to that instead of just giving us yet another anti-Rodgers rant. We get the picture - you don't like him. Now how about some reasoned argument or even some objectivity??

As someone who does enjoy a bit of sports betting, I followed this logic at Peterborough and backed us to win against a side that, itself, hadn't won.

I won't be making that mistake again in a hurry.

I have increasing confidence in our defence's ability to restrict teams to the odd goal now that Cummings is improving and Ivar is back. Unfortunately, the lack of cutting edge means that BR is left trying to 1-0 our way out of trouble. But we do not have the confidence or ability to kill games, so I'm expecting a lot of low scoring draws and defeats up to Christmas, with the occasional narrow win keeping our heads above water.

I'm going for 1-1 at PNE. McAnuff to score.

Our record at Deepdale:

P24 W3 D5 L16 F22 A70

Conceding 3 goals is the average for Reading at PNE. I expect normal service to be resumed.

2-0 Preston, basics.

They haven't lost a home league game in, like, ever.

They had a similar record when we went there and stuffed them 3-0, gr8 days.

We'll probably lose this time though, if Jon Parkin scores then fold the club.

I don't think we'll win this.

If we can keep them below double figures it will be seen as further proof that the team is "gelling"

Yeah but that was back when we actually had a black striker and white wingers. He's got it completely the wrong way round now.

We'll go 5-3-2 and hope to cling on to a 0-0.

Highly unlikely to succeed though.

Everything points to a home banker but then again so was West Brom v Palace.

1 - 1

Start off really well, miss a few sitters then Sigg puts a free kick in the bottom corner and we go completely to pot. 2nd half PNE are all over us and we end up losing 3-1, perhaps...?
