Back from the game (LIVERPOOL)

by RFCUK » 13 Jan 2010 23:12

To my hotel room anyway.

And I am speechless.. Just wow. Federici was just amazing.

We dominated the first half by far. Second half we weathered the storm, and managed a deserved goal, all be it a penalty.

I must say though, I was very disappointed by the atmostphere at Anfield. I was expecting so much, but saw a few too many empty seats, and only heard maybe three songs in total?

Hopefully this will give us the boost we need. With Forest losing this week, and us beating The Scousers, perhaps we'll do Forest on Saturday. Could be worth a few quid..

LOL at the Royals fans clearly heard singing 'Shall we sing a song for you' to the mighty Kop!

When that ball was pumped into about 4 Reds right at the death, my heart was in my mouth but there was Feds coming right through all of them to take the ball cleanly.

Fantastic team performance

Player ratings

Fed 8 - excellent tonight
Bertrand - 7 looked comfortable and unlucky with the own goal
Mills - 8 - excellent
Ingi- 8 - also excellent
Gunnar 9- MOTM comfortably - worth that for the cross alone
Sig - 8 - the coolest penalty I have ever seen!!!
Cisse- 5 - having been excellent in the first game looked off the pace tonight
Karacan - 8 all over the place - superb
McAnuff - 8 - what a run - would have been goal of the season
Church - 8 - he ran his socks off
Rasiak 5 - no comment and how did he miss?

Howard - 5 a a bit anonymous
Kebe - 6 - typical Kebe
Long - 8 - best performance this season by a mile

McD - 9 - well thought out substitutions - must get the job til the end of the season

Harsh on Howard, Rasiak & Cisse IMO.

Rasiak didn't do a lot and missed a good chance, but he can't have expected that ball to get anywhere near him. He worked Liverpool's defence hard.

Cisse worked really hard and broke up a lot of attacks, but he just can't control or pass the ball to save his life.

Howard was a little anonymous, but certainly not worth a 5 in that performance.

PS, I think Liverpool probably should have had a penalty towards the end. Aquilani was definitely being hugged and impeded by Mills(?)

But the result was definitley the right one.

Funny, I am normally one of the first to slate Kebe, he usually frustrates the hell out of me, but tonight i thought he was excellent(except when he went down near the end)he generally looked to do the right thing and I thought for the most part managed it. Funny how different people view and interpret a performance because all I have seen is criticism for him tonight, yet I thought that was one of his better performances!

Don't like him much, and think he is stupid with a poor final ball, but other than that he is a very good player.

He always does a lot of good in my eyes, but rarely finishes anything well. THankfully today he didn't have to score or provide a goalscoring cross.

A great and deserved result.

If BM is not manager in the next 48 hours it will be very harsh. He has taken us back to basics and we are watchable again.

I think individual scores are unnecessary tonight - the team were heroic.

Only negatives for me were:

Fed beaten again on his near post

Long diving for the penalty.... Let's be blunt for all the talk of simulation it is merely another way of saying 'cheating'. TBF I am a massive fan of Shane - and his winner was magic; but I hate players going down so easily [hate it when it happens against us a bit more thpugh!].

Looking forward to Saturday. :D

WOW!

How good was that! Back in the hotel bar; bit subdued as several Liverpool fans present  Fantastic performance from the boys and #13. I hope it came across on telly! Going to be days before my voice is back to normal. Excellent and common sense stewarding too.

But the Liverpool fans????

They've only got one song; and they sung that before the game even kicked off.

Harsh on Fed - absolutely no chance with deflection,.

Harsh on Long. He was definitely caught and definitely a penalty.

On the telly, all I could hear for the vast majority of the game were Reading fans singing their hearts out. So yes, it did come across.

The only dispute about the penalty the Liverpool fans in the pub I was in had, was why it wasn't given for the first challenge!
