I've just had to look up the Semi-Final dates so that we can avoid booking No.1 son's birthday event for the same weekend.

I've just read on the OS that Newcastle has been rearranged for Tuesday 13th April, so it's 298 or 299 it seems.

There's only one decent way out for a gentleman. Book your son's birthday event for the semi-final weekend - if possible make book multiple events for each possible SF day.

I've made a provisional booking for the Saturday and Sunday (and explored with Mrs F the possibility of not being at the birthday event), but we have the make the firm booking by ............ next bloody Tuesday. Why not next Wednesday, by which time I'd have a clearer understanding of the risk.

The best I can hope for is that his mates can't make that weekend because they're Chelsea fans - sadly, I don't think they are.

The explored option above is considered bad form, apparently.

Wrong - we were nailed-on semi-finalists since the moment I booked a business trip abroad for that weekend. If the final's on May 8th then our name is on the Cup because I'll be away that weekend, too.
