MACSTATS

by Snowball » 18 Feb 2010 12:35

ALL 13 GAMES INCLUDING FA CUP

(and treating cup games as points in league)

Game

01 1 1 D A Bristol
02 1 1 D H Swansea
03 1 4 L A Plymouth
04 1 1 D H Liverpool
05 2 1 W A Liverpool
06 1 2 L A Forest
07 1 0 W H Burnley
08 0 3 L A Sheff Utd
09 1 0 W H Barnsley
10 2 1 W A Doncaster
11 2 1 W H Plymouth
12 2 2 D H WBA
13 3 1 W A Crystal Palace

W6 D4 L3 F18 A18 "22 Points" @ 1.69 "Points per Game" = 77.8 Point Season (4th Place)

That's damn impressive, especially since the side was in a mess when he took over and he was only caretaker

After the Scunthorpe game we were 11 points off the 6th place

That means we were accruing half-a-point per game less than 6th place.

After Mac's 9 games in charge we are 12 points off 6th, so have almost exactly matched
the top clubs in points-per-game since he took over.

Great to have your stats back Snowball. My response is predictable - can't include cup games, beating Liverpool is irrelevant to our league form. But could to see statistical back up to the obvious conclusion that we are playing better football and getting better results.

You mean we've fallen further behind?

Stopped reading this when I got to the bit where it said we would have got three points if Liverpool A had been a league game. It was 1-1 at 90 minutes, and league games don't go to extra time.

I think including 'points' from cup games is a bit iffy but not as much as pretending the cup games don;t have any relevance.

I strongly believe that the team have drawn huge confidence from the cup run and that has rubbed off on our league performances (combining with other factors to bring about our return to form(

So then you missed the bit where we got the stats for league games only.

I prefer not to use Cup games, especially when we might be playing a side
2-3 division lower than us (eg Burton 5-1)

and like under Coppelll, playing the second string

Under Mac it's been different, because the look and feel has been "first-team" and trying for a win

Ta

Comparing all league games and only league games

21 games 21 points = 1.00 points per game = 46.0 point season RODGERS

09 games 14 points = 1.56 points per game = 71.6 point season MAC

25.6 points more in a season? 46 last season was relegated 68 was 8th, and Mac would be on for almost 72

That is a helluva statistic

I presume you don't blame Mac for Rodger's results?
