Favourite Away Ground

by Starfish » 19 Feb 2010 14:22

Sorry if this has done before but can't remember reading something of the sort.

What is your favourite away ground? What is your best Reading-related memory of being there? And which away ground do you think you have visited most often?

I remember Stockport's ground when we got the 1-1 there which practically got us promotion in 1994. Great atmosphere but I was so small I couldn't see a thing!

Favourite ground of any excluding RFC was Highbury

Favourite away ground (excluding Highbury) was Villa Park. Favourite memory was seeing Sonko sent off, um, I mean Doyles goal putting us top of the Prem.
Away ground most visited is I suspect Griffin Park but could be Watford

Think that was the day when we were doing the conga along the front of the terrace through pure joy! Brilliant times......

I can imagine leg-room being a problem for you, m8.

But like I said; "for some reason". I don't know what the reason is really which is a bit of a shit answer.

Definitely Villa Park. That red brick exterior just stinks of history. The Holte End - when it was a terrace - was just an awesome sight.

City Of Manchester Stadium for me.

Very nice ground and the 2-0 win we got there in 1st season of the prem was very special. Also enjoyed the 2 pint glasses.

Most visited for me must be Selhurst or Griffin Park

Same.

I didn't think much of Old Trafford. Went twice, didn't see us lose there, but it's not really all that when you're in it, and it's ugly outside too.

I was glad I went to Hillsborough a few years back when we were promoted, and it's an older ground steeped in history, but I was overcome with sadness just thinking of 'that day' and the lives lost.

Most visited - Highbury, but usually as a home customer.
Most visited watching Reading - Selhurst Park a grand total of twice, once Palace (Xmas week late 80's), once Wimbeldon (03).
I have a soft spot for Griffin Park too, although I've only been in the home end.

Favourite either Highfield Road, Craven Cottage or Walkers.
