Play Off watch, edit courtesy of a Mills finger to League 1

by Tails » 06 Mar 2010 15:33

As we aren't involved with league action this weekend and we are approaching the crunch time with regard to entering the final run-in, I thought I'd bring an umbrella thread to the Team board to keep a check on what's happening around us - lets keep it to games that have a significant bearing on our league position.

As I type QPR go flying into a 2-0 lead over the Baggies with other scores not really going our way. Wednesday seem to be picking themselves up after we steam-rolled them into submission and others holding their own else where.

As it stands:

15 Derby 34 -8 42
16 QPR 33 -6 40
17 Watford 32 -4 39
18 Ipswich 34 -8 39
19 Reading 32 -9 38
20 Scunthorpe 34 -20 38
21 Crystal Palace 33 0 37
22 Sheff Wed 34 -18 37
23 Plymouth 33 -16 29
24 Peterborough 34 -20 25

Peterborough and Plymouth both losing. If it stays how it is, there is only really one relegation place left.

They did. But they were 4 points behind us.
That table is from the BBC so it could be wrong

All in all, not that bad set of results for us, but agreed, that the game on Wednesday now becomes even more important.

I think it is a very bad set of results. Palace and, especially, Sheff Weds and QPR won what I thought were tough games.

Watford and Bristol City had terrible results, but against teams who were worse off than them before kick off.

agree that Plymouth's draw is not enough for them

Next three games for us all at home: Derby, Bristol City and QPR. Gulp. Pressure on, cos it gets much tougher after that

Sheff Wed away at WBA and Swansea next, so hopefully in difficulty..............

Well well...you'd think we'd've learnt better by now than to hope for any of these useless blighters to do us any favours --tanks fer nuttin' Leicester, Blunts & Albion

SLAMMED Bristol City 2-5 Doncaster :?

We have to win our way to safety and hope that others lose and draw their way into danger and keep doing it so to stay there

From our perspective, others drawing is good (two points lost by each); failing that, the home side winning is, in general, the preferred result --we'd prefer not to see away sides picking up three points, although you could make a case for the opposite with this one I suppose (but again, I'd rather this had ended all square)

SLAMMED Derby 2-0 Watford :D

Home wins better than away wins and all of that, but a draw here would've been much preferred, as it would've left us two points back of both of 'em and with two games in hand on Derby --who instead scooted somewhere closer to clear of us with that win

SLAMMED Peterborough 0-1 Coventry :D

Not so much IMO --Posh are absolute toast unless they go on a run the like of our own over January/February and then go a few better than that

I don't think they've got it in 'em; meanwhile, Cov are three points richer, and from a game away to boot --no bueno

SLAMMED Plymouth 1-1 Preston :|

Janners really did us a solid with the leveller --that's still two (home) points dropped by them to leave us 8 points clear with a match in hand as Preston, also denied two points, stay within our reach and have played two games more

I know points are better than games in hand, but by Wednesday we will have 3 on some teams, plus most will have played Tuesday. So we will know where we stand and not throw it away
