Don't you find it hilarious when you start mentioning players such as Linvoy Primus, Ray Houghton and Mass Sarr people come across with a look of bewilderment across their face sayng 'Nah I can't remember them..'

The Robin Friday thread that appeared about 10 years ago on here, genuine first account posts from those who were at the tranmere game and saw that goal.

Also, the Simod Cup thread that appeared back in '95, just before we revisited Wembley.

If you were lucky.

It certainly wasn't that common, and mainly for workplaces (email etc.) I first got email in '96 and hence t'net. No restrictions, no workspace spying....all the 'dodgy' files and pictures you could download...

I don't remember forums in HNA back in '96 just email submission but I could be wrong.

Memory, they don't make it like they used to....

For the RFC mailing list it was fine. It was when I discovered porn it became relatively useless.

I remember it taking nearly an hour to download 1 picture of Jo Guest.

In the days when I started on computers compuserve (the only provider) was limited to the boss and the modem which clamped onto the standard BT handset

56k was courteousy of Pfizer and their billions - so porn free, as free as the wind blows, as free as the grass grows

Well if we're talking starting on computers, I started with a teleprinter, an acoustic coupler (in a polished wooden box) and two half hour connections a week to the ICL mainframe in Bracknell. All to do a bit of wordprocessing!

I had Compuserve too for a while - remember that stupid champagne bottle cursor when you successfully connected - but can't remember whether that was before or after Demon, went with Clara when they started at a much more reasonable price.

I liked Usenet until the AOL kiddies and spammers came along, though tbf it was bloody Mike Corley really finished it for me. At least that mad bastard leaves forums alone, touch wood.

Had to look up Mike Corley http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A694523

Bloody teleprinters! Had one at school,

2 hours typing in a program, putting it onto punched tape.

Send it off to Shire Hall

Get it back a week later
