Fans apology to Mills

by oldebiscuit » 18 Mar 2010 22:20

For all those fans that booed mills last tuesday here is a generic statement of apology for you to read out;

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all concerned. I am very sorry that i booed Matt last Tuesday, even though his reaction immediately after us booing him was outrageous.
I apologise and realise that us 'big mouthed empty vessels' are a minority, yet we are the ones that the players hear, and although i don't understand why, we do not represent the majority of well behaved, discernable football fans that don't shout their big mouths off.
I am so sorry that i do pees off the average football fan but i am unable to help myself. I realise that it is cowardly to hide in the crowd an abuse people from a safe distance without having to look my target in the eyes, but it make me feel 'big', especially in front of my like minded mates.
I am sorry to say that i take some consolation in knowing that despite the fact that i am in a minority, all clubs throughout the land have 'bell ends' just like me.
I would like to apologise belatedly for being obnoxious in the past, to players like Tony Rougier, Keith Jones, and Andy hughes to name but a few, players that despite being League 1 players, did not perform like Ronaldo week in-week out.
I would like to say that this apology come from the bottom of my heart (sheds tears) and that it will never happen again. I shall be attending a
'minority football fan clinic' for treatment for my embarrassing behaviour. Sorry.

PS It is ok to boo Emille Heskey and other opposing players, but only with a good natured smile.

Mills swore after the booing started, he was being booed every time the ball came to him. Agree he shouldn't have done but he did, he has since appologised so everyone needs to get over it and move on. A player should never be booed by his own supporters as that defeats the object of supporting the team. He has 1 bad game and a few people jump on him for it, he's human for f's sake not a robot!

I have personally apologised to Mills for mistakenly thinking he was sh*t. He is now my favourite Mills ahead of the fit, one-legged scrounger Heather.

If they dive and win us a penalty or free kick then that's good.

If they dive and don't win us a penalty or free kick then they can oxf*rd off.

You're probably right. But what about when they whinge their arses off to the referee?

If Mills was booed AFTERWARDS what prompted him to make the gesture ?

He was booed twice (at least) before he turned and saluted the East Stand.

FWIW I don;t think the fans owe anyone an apology. The tactic was rubbish and deserved the catcalls, just sad for Mills that he was the one tasked with putting the tactic into effect. It would have deserved the boos even if it had been Parky, Murts or Shaka doing it.

I wasn't there but I honestly can't say whether or not I'd have bood.

As a general loudmouth (who only boos the team after a match is over, if at all) I think if I saw kick after kick hoofed up into touch I dunno but I *might* have joined in with a small boo after the 100th time of it happening. But it definitely would NOT be aimed at Mills personally just at the fact that we continue with this plan that's not working - a general boo of dissatisfaction to the way we're playing. Making myself heard to send a message to BM to try and change things.

I wonder if those few who bood were expressing general displeasure at balls hoofed out into touch rather than trying to boo Mills personally....??

Rather than criticise them for being 'nobs' why don't we ask them why they did it?

Were you there???? Were you in the East Stand??? If you were, then you would know that it was groans of frustrations at the team and NOT booing. You simply could not have been there and are writing this from the ill reported comments of others...

Depends if it helps us or not.

Winning is everything.

Correct, had Mills possessed a bit more intelligence than the average professional footballer, he would have realised that the moans, groans and boos were aimed far more at the hoof tactics than him as an individual player. It just so happened that at the time it was he who was adopting the tactic most and being the least successful with it. My abuse after his latest misplaced hoof was aimed at the bench rather than him! What's more I was shocked and saddened by the ferocity with which he was booed after his finger reaction.
