Oh my god terrible news regarding Brynjar

by IcelandicStokie » 15 Apr 2010 10:28

Apparently he will stay at Reading!!!!! Not good news.

"I have been told by the club that they want to offer me a new contract and we will start negotiating soon," Gunnarsson told Morgunblaðið.

"I am ready to stay at the club. I feel great here and the team has been on the rise for the last few months. Its certainly a case for optimism next season. We started this season badly which has affected our play off chances.

About the injury he sustained against Newcastle.

"Its not as bad as it appeared at first. I had a blow to the head and landed badly on my shoulder and thats troubling be now, the shoulder," said Brynjar who is optimistic to take part against Peterborough at the weekend.

Royalee will disagree with immensely, but I'm actually pleased by this news.

Bryn is dependable, based on recent performances has another year in him as utility back up and i'm quite happy for him to stay at the club.

Gunnarsson's magical moment this season was nutmegging the Liverpool defender before whipping in the cross for Shane Long to head in the winner.

I think he's earned another season at Reading.

Quite happy with this to be fair, great bloke off the pitch and not to bad on it either! Always more than dependable when called upon and gives cover in various positions.

I would also imagine that he is over seeing Siggy's devolopment in some way as a mentor or something so all in all happy with this.

Excellent news.

One of the players of the season for me.

Being asked to play centre back, right back and centre midfield and giving 100% every time.

Not his biggest fan but used sparingly he, he can still do a job, and he's a mature head for the younger players to learn from.

Good news.

He is also good to have around for the development of our younger midfield players (Karacan, Sigurdsson, Davies) and they can all learn a lot from him......

Great team player and very pleased to have him in the squad.
I Cant understand why anybody would want to slag him to be honest, always gives 100%, not sure that everybody else does.

See above, surely one of the best pro`s at the club. Fully deserves another contract, good news.

Good news. Was worried Tuesday was gonna be a horrible end to his Reading spell.

He won't get a deal if it isn't right for the club.

Still do a job on and off the pitch.

I'm not embarrassed to say I LOVE THIS MAN.

He's getting on 35, has the air of a workhorse, and yet has moments of genius, and you just know you are going to get an absolutely commited performance everytime he is on the pitch. LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM, LOVE HIM

Good news. Bryn is dependable and with so many youngsters coming through it can only benefit them as well.

Always gives 100% wherever he plays. If he leaves it is a loss

Agreed. Could add how frustrating he can be, but that goes with the territory. I know I'll miss him when he goes, so I'm glad he's staying a little longer.

think hes been my favourite RFC player ever since he arrived pretty much. the way he just slots in where ever hes asked to, always gives 110%, never really lets us down, and has scored some absolute belting important goals for us.
and a thoroughly lovely chap to boot.

Bryn is an ideal backup player, because he seems to be able to play anywhere in midfield and at the back. As was said above, the first word that comes to mind is "workhorse", yet he's a gifted footballer too. A myth arose that Bryn can't last a whole game, but he scotched that by laying on the winner in extra time at Liverpool. But if we keep him, we must let Cissé go, surely.

If Bryn is staying we really must offload Cisse. It is simply not good sense to have 4 defensive midfielders at the club and Tabb & Karacan are the future for us there.

Hopefully Marek will go as well, although really I think we need to offload at least 3 midfielders this summer.

+1

Also I reckon he'll be on value for money wages.
