Coppell vs Mcdermott......

by loyalroyal4life » 19 Apr 2010 09:38

With the News of Coppell being appointed as new Bristol City manager, what are everyone's views on who will come out on top over the 2 league games during next season?

Bit surprised Coppell didn't wait until summer before choosing a club, he is obviously desperate to get back into the game.

Why be surprised hat he has take the gig now? It givs him a chance to assess the squad before the end of the season so that he can go into pre-seaso with more of an idea of what needs to be done in terms of personnel.

What I do know is that SSC will get a fantastic reception from the Mad Stad faithful and this is one game I will definitely go to next season to show my appreciation for what he did for us.

Cue the chant "Coppell loves us more than you!"

Why on earth would you want Reading to lose to Bristol City? :|

True i can understand that but i just think having waited this long, one more month would of not really affected things in terms of taking on a challenge for next season.

Looking forward to the 2 games already

Coppell will get Bristol City into the top 6 within two seasons. Definite outside bet for the top 6 next season. Fabulous appointment for them, and it's an excellent job for him really. His sort of club.

Already a decent club, got potential to improve and get bigger, but no immediate pressure to win promotion. Very similar club to Reading and Palace where he's done his best work.

Agreed with AP - if they give Coppell the time to build a team they'll go places.

In answer to the OP, based on post Xmas performance and assuming we keep most of the team together, I think the student will beat the master next season.

Obviously wish him all the best and that and I think he will do well with BC.

However it will make me so ill to think of him taking another club, like BC, to the Prem and doing well. :(

can honestly see him doing well, but the club needs some work IMO
we are ahead of them in the cycle IMO, and he needs a couple of seasons to get them going
and id be tempted to wager some cash that ingimarrsson and sonko may well be there as CBs next season.

uill be gutted to see him bring another team here, but itll be a good day, and nice to see him back too

good luck SSC

Alan Partridge but no immediate pressure to win promotion

Are you serious? There is a lot of pressure to get them promoted quickly......

Indeed, hence why Johnson went.

Well, Coppell won't get them promoted straight away, he'll always rebuild gradually, like he did with Reading.

I don't think so. I don't think they will be expecting promotion instantly nor will he be out of a job at the end of the season if they don't achieve that unlike some clubs.

Johnson had been there a long time and they weren't going anywhere under him anymore, coupled with some laughable scorelines.

Time for a change. I'd wager Coppell gets them top 6 in 2 seasons.

Good luck to Coppell. Would we have wanted him back now with the way that McDermott has rejuvenated the team?
It will be interesting to see what he does with BC.

Their Chairman is very ambitious and has been throwing money at the club and the fans are very impatient. There will be huge pressure from the terraces. The fans are already talking about expensive signings like Kitson...

They have been around the playoffs since they were promoted and Jonhson left because he failed to take them up. Coppell will need to get them in the playoffs next season at the very least........

People should remember Coppell's first 2 seasons with us. Top class manager for sure, but I'd be surprised to see City challenging next season with their current squad. Look out for them in 11/12.

Millen is in charge until the end of the season and they will make further announcements when appropriate.

THere are rumours that there are issues around personal terms with Coppell.
