On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the 09/10 season?

by SpaceCruiser » 20 Apr 2010 10:14

1 being the shittest, boring and worst ever season you've witnessed and 10 being the most fantastic and entertaining season ever in your life.

What do you reckon?

Great question. In the end for me an 8 but could have been so much worse.

7, fantastic since Feb, but can't forget Rodger's tenure that easily.

Pretty good. Excellent pubs and no trips cocked up by the TV moving the game.

It's gets a 7 from me - good old highs and lows (not necessarily in that order). It epitomised the reason we're all on the Team Board all day.

Schards#2 1st half 3/10

2nd half 9/10

Average 6/10

I had a feeling that this would be the way to rate the season. First half indeed was shit, nothing to be excited about. The second half wouldn't have been fantastic without the FA Cup run.

I was thinking about this the other day, and in an odd way I'd say this season was one of my favourites out of the 12 or so I've been following the Royals!

The first half was so dire that the second half completely blew it out the water, and the FA Cup run was fantastic for the club and all the fans/players concerned, we were so close!!

For me, this season is an 8.5/10

A real roller coaster of a season. Started poor under Rogers and did not have a home win till the Barnsley match. Under McDermott, we thrived under his management and style of football and has shocked many teams in the FA Cup and in the League.

Giving this season a 8. Its' times like these where you would love to be a Reading FC fan. :D

Pretty much agree, especially when you also factor in how shit 2009 was in general, 2010 just made it fun and gave us reasons to enjoy coming to the ground again. I think what has helped is the general lowering of expectations that for the first time since probably 02/03 we didn't expect to be in the playoffs.

7/10 for me.

It has to rate quite high to me, more exciting than the last two certainly. Take into account our league position is about 5 positions higher than i would have predicted pre-season and I can't think of any reason to rate it lower than 7

Arguably, a more exciting season than both 2005/6 and 2006/7.

The rollercoaster of emotions has been extraordinary and the emergence of the new young talent a wonder to behold.

Granted, the first 5 months were dreadful but that's just made the bigger picture that more entertaining.

If the season had happended the other way round, ie brilliant the first half and dire the second half, leaving us fighting relegation, then it would have been 1 or 2. However, the fact that we experienced the low first half being replaced by the fantastic second half, I would give this season 8 or 9. In spite of what people are saying we still have a chance of the play offs and could again go into the last game of the season not knowing what division we'll be playing in next year. The rest of the world seems to have written-off our play off chances so surely we, as Reading fans, need to counter that and believe (at least until Saturday).

Or until tonight when we might draw or lose.

As a fully paid up member of the RTG brigade, it's got to be a 9 (10 if we make the play-offs by some miracle). First half flushed out all the 'glory hunters', moaners etc and the second was a big two-fingers to them all, played with flair and ambition.

Reminded why I love football, and respect this club.
