Goodbye Marek!

by The Prisoner » 11 Jun 2010 17:54

Sale agreed to Sparta for an undisclosed fee.

I'll always remember the goal against Liverpool and that you never quite showed us your full potential.

Text from club.

Result! Let's hope its an substantial undisclosed fee.

And surely his signing must go down as one of the most pointless ever made by the club. Perhaps even one of the biggest wastes of money.

Wish him all the best and hope he can stay injury free.

Any idea of the fee?

Hopefully we can use the cash to bag Griffin...

Wasn't a Suprise no. Never criticised Marek, Just consistency needed would've been a great player for us otherwise IMO. Will as mentioned remember his Anfield Goal. Cheers Marek, all the best!!

Let's hope its a decent sum from the Czech champions, either to Land Griffin or lose some of that £4m hanging over us.

Good move for him. Talented player and has been one of the most unluckiest and underrated players I've seen. Shame, but it means we have more chance of getting griffin

Ahoj Marek. Teraz to tylko Rasiak jako nasz jedyny tu Slowian :(

Hope we got lots of moolah for him as well. Great goal against Liverpool which I witnessed live but too much weight, too slow, too many bad passes and too many yellow cards.

Good luck but can't say I'll miss you.

I remember seeing him play in the European Cup and thought wow, he's another Fabergas... but somehow it never seemed to work out right for us or him. Shame really, but this deal is good for us and for him I think.

Best news of the summer so far. He just never did it for us. We are at least saving the wages and hopefully got some sort of fee.

Expensive flop i'm afraid. £1.5mil or so, on a player who struggled for fitness and never really took control in any game. Can count all of his good moments on one hand.

Nice guy, wish him all the best, but glad he's gone.

Director of football Nick Hammond said: "This is a good deal for Reading Football Club at this moment in time.

"We have a large number of extremely good midfield players and across the last two seasons Marek has been unable to hold down a regular place in our first team.

"Marek, like many, wants to play regular football and with so much competition for that position in our squad we couldn't guarantee him that next year.

"He has had a difficult time, suffering some niggling injuries of late.

"In truth, we are all a little bit disappointed to see him go.

"Marek is a very, very talented player and we all saw flashes of his quality during his Reading career. It's just a shame we never saw that ability on a consistent basis.

"We all wish Marek the very best of luck in whatever lies ahead in his career."

Seems like we didn't really want to sell him. Maybe i'm clutching at straws, but it seems to suggest we may have got a good fee.

Showed patches of brilliance, but not enough consistency I'm afraid. Its a shame he got injured on the first day of 08/09 a prolongued period in the team and we could have seen the best out of him.

Best of luck Marek

If he played to his ability and his potential, week in, week out, then he would have played 30+ games a season and scored and assisted his way into all of our hearts

As it was he couldn't, he didn't and he didn't.

 Well I liked him and I don't think he was ever given a proper chance under Rodgers and certainly not under McD. I'll miss him even if you lot won't.
