De La Cruz Foundation?

by RIP ELM Park » 27 Jan 2007 21:40

As reported recently De La Cruz contributes a significant part of his salary to his foundation to help his home town. Could STAR find out how us fans could contribute to this?

Seems like a great way to show support for one of our players whilst contributing to a worthy cause.

We are looking into getting the details to help publicise this - so will let you know when we can.

This club might authorise a collection outside the ground before a game which would be the most efficient and public way for us all to show our support. Didn't STAR provide volunteersto do something like this before.

Why not collect charitable donations that go to Reading charities. I'm sure we have more than enough homeless, battered women and hungry OAP's to make it worth it. Why anyone should wish to send money abroad beggers belief.

Or why not do both?

Good point, Maybe we should follow De la Cruz and make donations to our home town.

That doesn't mean there should be no collection for the foundation DLC contributes to. It's up to those donating time or cash what they do with it.

Each to their own.

I actually see it as a way of showing our backing for one of our players and helping a good cause at the same time. Also I give to charity to help those in need, I don't really care where they are. A good cause is a good cause regardless of geography.

Everyone should be free to give their money to whatever good cause/charity they want. This thread was about the De La Cruz Foundation and it doesn't say anywhere that we should stop giving money to other 'UK' charities.

Could STAR raise this with the club perhaps? Or are their ramifications unless Ulysses is a registered charity?

I'm pleased to say we can now accept donations to this foundation on behalf of Ulises.

All deatils of how to donate - in person, by cheque/postal order or by Paypal - are now on the STAR website.
