Torquay Wall Collapse

This morning I've been talking to safety authorities in Torquay, and I'm discovering some extremely interesting things out.

To help take this further, I'm trying to establish the full extent of this, so please could I ask anyone who was nearby to let me know the following :

- what happened to cause this, in your view (just a brief paragraph of text)
- what injuries, if any, you suffered?

Also, I'd love to get pictures - either of the wall collapse itself or of any injuries sustained by you or others.

There's a whole lot more to it than that, though, and so I'm asking for the assistance of people who want to help in order to ascertain just what the issue here is - although that in itself opens a whole raft of questions, like why was a crowd-retaining wall built with 100mm breeze-blocks when the recommended minimum standard is 227mm bricks with reinforcement.

As per my PM - seriously, there really isn't. Shoddy and inadequate wall didn't hold the weight of supporters celebrating a goal shocker.

As to why the wall was built in such a way - well, surely that's a question for TUFC to answer?

By giving me the information so I can establish just how big this issue was - I'm working with the Safety Advisory Group at Torbay Council who have the statuary responsibility for supporter safety at Plainmoor.

Even if you did go to injurylawyers4u you'd have a much better case - and much more compensation - if you and others affected went en masse. My role is acting as central focus to collect information - a group of people working together will always be more effective than a group of individuals working on their own.

As to why the wall was built in such a way - well, surely that's a question for TUFC to answer?

Or the local safety licensing authority - there are questions such as why was a safety certificate issued when an inadequate wall like that was there.

Certainly not - this is an incident which I believe was caused by inadequate design and management - all areas for supporters, whether seated or standing, should be properly designed.

I now just need the information to prove that.

From PMs so far, another interesting theme is developing - I'd also very much like to hear from anyone who tried to take pictures of the incident but was prevented from doing so by stewards.

but that's his photographic arm and what about when he finds it hurts to climb ito disused potholes or whatever it is he does. The pics I saw of the wall showed that it just broke into pieces, no crumbling, just sections of wall fell apart.
