starliaison they only take video footage without sound

What possible reason would they have to record it without sound?

Looks like STAR have been hoodwinked by the club as the footage on the OS of Brian's standing ovation has sound on it :o despite the heavy drum n bass backing track...

Just goes to show that STAR really do believe every single thing that the club says!!!

The Club CHARGE the supporter's trust for hiring one of the rooms in order to promote a bit of PR between the club and the fans? You couldn't make it up.

I thought that - the club must be laughing their little bollocks off.

Compass own the Conference Centre?

Doesn't bode well if the club aren't happy with the catering arrangements from Compass then.

As far as I know, Compass doesn't own the conference centre they merely run it and provide the catering. If the club had wanted to they could have covered the costs rather than asking STAR too.

Thanks BKR, just as I thought. STAR are so well thought of by the club that they CHARGE them to hire a room when promoting relationship between the club and the supporters.

I hope STAR have sent an apology to the club for upsetting Brian etc by failing to make clear the "ground rules" for the Fans Forum.

The club could have covered the cost but then it would be the club's forum; whereas it is the STAR forum.

So why did the CLUB ask graham to remove the offending post? Are they really able to tell people what to do when they didn't even arrange it?

I wasn't arguing a point, just stating that there would have been a cost that someone would have to cover...and in replying to someone LOLing that STAR had to pay said that the club could have if they'd wanted. Actually agree with you that as it was their event if there were any costs STAR should cover it. (I can't imagine the costs were very high unless they put on food and drink).

I am afraid that it is high, if they put on food and drink it is very high. Not sure the latest rate as we negotiate a fixed fee for several events but when we first asked about 8 years ago it was £800 for the evening.

Thing is, this wasn't supposed to be a Fans Forum as such anyway was it?

I thought it was a STAR AGM but McD's appearance was tacked on quite late in the day.

Did STAR, the club or Brian himself instigate that?

That simply isn't true. Organising and paying are different things.
If STAR don't get the room free (or very cheap) then you could hold the event somewhere more cost effective.

The AGM is in September. This was an extra Fans Forum that Brian asked to be before the season started. As our year ends at 30 June we could not get the accounts audited in time for this so was arranged as an extra. We have not yet sorted who will come to the hour after the AGM but we hope they will be worth listening to as it is important to have an AGM for members that is attractive: we all know how an AGM is seen as boring by many.

I think that is the reason it was such a relaxed and interesting forum, once the season starts Brian is too focused on the next game, whereas a friendly against AFC Wimbledon was important but not so stressful.

An interesting suggestion but where? The Hilton and the Town Hall can take the numbers but cost more than we currently pay. Serious suggestions would be appreciated but we do periodically check there is nowhere better.
