Do STAR have any event planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary in March of Simod Cup?

I went to the 10th anniversary dinner at the Rendezvouz. Nosh, booze and after dinner speakers. Had my picture taken with the cup and the Masterter of Ceremonies was that fat bloke who had a Reading FC letters page in the evening post whos name escapes me right now - any way at the end he stood at the door and shook everyones hand who attended, I told him my name and he reckognised me as one of his regular letter writers who always slagged him off and while holding a Whiskey in one hand and a large cigar in the other, he very loudly said, well you can F**k off then.

Sound geezer!!!

How about a new flag aimed at the big club supporters?

YOU'VE NEVER
WON THE
SIMOD!

Except that Chelsea have won it twice and Blackburn once.

Thats it, Mike Lewis, in the days before their was such a thing as internet forums, I had several huge public rows with him via the evening post letters page that he edited at the time about Reading football club. I found him annoying at the time, but soon realized that he was just a very good newspaper man, saying just the right things to get a reaction and have people like me writing in.

An old School RFC man and top bloke really, but a bit over the top!

We have talked about this and intend to assist the ex-players association in holding some event to celebrate it.

We have also raised it with the club at the management meeting and they intend to have something at the Blackburn game - see notes of the last management meeting which I intend to send to out webmaster today with the notes of the stewards forum.

We are also open to suggestions if you can think of another way STAR could celebrate it - ideas on here on to info@star-reading.org.

I've got to say the Simod cup dinner we had to commerorate the 10th anniversary was excellent. I'd pay to go to a similar event (within reason)
Dinner, wine , beer, a showing of the game on a big screen, guest speakers (Ian Branfort?) and of course a viewing of the cup.

Unlike the 10th anniversary, I suspect my yellow cup final top would not fit anymore!

Mrs Beelzibub is up for that too!

(P A P was a one-off

a bloody good one tho')

stepping back in time.......

The 4-1 cost me a kings ransom at the time (a wedding ring).

20 years on, name the price ..it would still be cheap.

Looking forward to it, should it come off............just hope that it is not totally exclusive to STAR members.

I think it is a little sad that we are commemorating the Simod Cup win like some major achievment.

Smacks of Mickey Mouse to me.

One of my greatest moments supporting the Royals though.

From the thread title, I thought this would be a request to have a star above the club badge on replica shirts (ala England 1966) to remind the world of our famous cup win.
