What happended to ...

by M4 Junction 11 » 09 Jan 2007 16:34

... the idea of having a new Sunday evening sports roundup. It's just that my diary is starting to fill up for 2007 and something was said about BBCRB looking for a "Nobber of the Week".

Ollie At the moment we're working on a pilot version of what may become a new Sunday evening sports roundup. So there is a possibility of a "Nobber of the Week" being invited on each Sunday in the fairly near future - that can be some sort of small reward! Not definite yet though.

... and this? Did it happen and I just missed it

Alan Titchmarsh How about if BBC Berks could put some interviews with players and management from the past to talk about their times at the club and what they think of things now. May get some great insights into the club at that time esp. as now it'd be OK reveal some of the stories behind the scenes so to speak.

Would be great programming in its own right in my opinion and make for good filler/specials in the close season and bank holidays or just as an occasional insert into the main sports programs.

Suggestions for interviewees; Charlie Hurley, Ian Branfoot, Martin Hicks, Kevin Bremner, Mike Lewis, Roger Smee etc....
Ollie We're working on a memorable matches feature with fans' recollections of the best games they've seen, so this would fit in well with that. I'll pass it on to the rest of the sports team and we'll see what we can do - it's a good idea.

Did some work on that but it hasn't happened as yet. The problem at the moment is there's more sport than there is of me. Christmas eating did a great job of improving the amount of me there is, but it's still not enough.

In terms of ex-players/managers, the phone-in does quite a good trade in that sort of thing and we did dig out stuff from the Reading v Bolton play-off final for a web feature a month or two ago, whenever the Prem game was.

Was thinking the same thing. How difficult can it be to create a new radio programme

If we have a "Nobber of the Week" there should also be a rate the nobber vote afterwards. Who's up for creating the "I've been a Nobber of the Week' merchandise :D
