Footie Phone In Guest.... 19th January

by Barry the bird boggler » 15 Jan 2007 08:55

Last Friday Tim mentioned in amongst all the rugby comments that Nigel Howe is being lined up for this week's show.

Presuming this to be how it works out, file your questions below....

Nigel....

What is your day to day role at the club?

When will plans for the extension to the stadium be confirmed in public so we can all start getting used to the new look?

We've all seen the state of the pitch recently, which at this time of the year always seems to look worse than it actually is, but what effect will the increase in capacity have on maintaining the quality of surface esp. as the egg chasers are going to be rolling about on it until 2010?

What plans are there re: local parking now that the South Reading development is starting to appear, do the club anticipate this causing further road problems esp. for evening games?

Red or blue bounties

Given the Premiership numbering and badge have been redesigned for next season is that likely to mean we're going to have yet another new strip in the summer?

Why are vehicles leaving the car park after games never stopped from doing so leading to some dodgy moments as pedestrians leave?

If you found an Alpaca in your office would you try to ignore it and just get on with your work?

Why not build a one way exit road from the back of the car park into the Green Park estate then vehicles could leave from the back and pedestrians via the existing routes - something willl need to be done when the GP railway station comes on line

- I read 'The Nigel Howe column' you wrote in September '06 with interest. When are you next going to get your column out again on readingfc.co.uk?

- Expanding the Mad Stad. What's the latest? Which stand are they likely to work on first and what are we likely to see in the new concourses?

- There are a lot of ideas from some real fans (and some plastics too) on the discussion forum Hob Nob Anyone?. Do you ever go onto this website for ideas? If you posted on this site what would be your username?

Nigel,

Have you ever taken part in the well known past time made popular by Cardiff supporters involving sheep and cliffs?

If so, this would be remarkable, as an anagram of your name is EWE HOLING

Yours truly
Cheery

- What was the first ever football game you saw live, how old were you at the time and who took you to the game?

follow up question (if not Reading F.C.):
- What's the first Reading game you saw at Elm Park?

Nige,

1. Would you consider a scheme whereby supporters loan a thousand pounds to the club over five years and instead of receiving interest, are awarded a percentage discount off future season tickets, and free cup games (excluding European games)?

2. If you think this is a good idea, would you send me a replica shirt for a 5 year old.

Cheery

Are you standing in for John Madejski or did BBC Berks actually ask you on the show?

What's the highest offer the club has ever received for a player?

John Salako reportedly signed a contract that gauranteed him a new deal if he reached a certain number of appearances in the last year, As such he was dropped from the team to ensure he wouldn't reach that target. Do you feel he was naive not to have expected this when he signed the deal?

The club released Byron Glasgow for failing a drugs test, Would the board remain consistent and do the same again under similar circumstances if the player was worth £5m?

In recent years we've signed or sold players for undisclosed fee's, has this always been at the request of the other club? Is it Reading FC's policy to make these amounts public?

Nigel Howe is confirmed for this Friday's phone-in.

Also appearing will be Kevin Girdler, soon-to-be-outgoing commercial manager and Royals Anthem composer.
