2,000 Reading fans at Old Trafford?

by riverroyal » 19 Feb 2007 17:00

Theres always something to moan about . . . .

The evening post, in their block about moan of the match, save of the match, etc. states that Reading's 2,000 fans at Old Trafford!

What a load of rubbish. Makes it sound as if we have poor away support. There was at least 4,000 there.

Moan over!

what do they expect....

1) we played them just over a month ago
2) it was a ridiculous £35, plus cost to get there
3) it takes out your whole day - up to 12 hours return journey time
4) it was on tv
5) some of us are protesting at the ridiculous prices being charged
6) some of us dont get paid/expenses refunded for attending unlike the hacks!!

i nearly didnt buy the retunr leg game at £32 for the same reason but stupidly decided to buy a ticket.....and yes i can afford it.....just a principle....

football should be £20 max..its not as though they re-invest the money into the business, just goes to the overpaid players......they should earn a max of £5K a week....there problem solved.

So that stand holds 3000 then? hmm, think not! We had 2/3's of that stand, and a good 4000 with us.

A steward said to me before the game that there were going to be 1800 empty seats, so that means we sold 4200.

Just annoys me how the local media get things wrong. Makes it look as if we are not that well supported.

Who cares if we aren't? Why do people get so hung up about attendances, it means absolutely nothing.

Exactly.

For those who worry about these things, where would you rather be - in the Prem and not being perceived as well supported or in League 1 and being perceived as being well supported.

It's a no brainer really.

I agree to a certain extent, but i feel we are a big club and have good support and, if I read a team took 2,000 to Old Trafford, i would think that was poor support.

It just annoys me when people mention Readings crowds and get them so wrong. Whats the point of saying Readings 2000 supporters when it was over Readings 4000+

I care

Were not a mickey mouse outfit that can only sell 2,000 for big games.

Were Reading, who are well supported, and took over 4,000 to Old Trafford.

You wont hear any press say Man Utd's 2,000 fans at Madejski Stadium, that would be knocking them!

I went to the league match. But decided not to go to Cup Match because..

1) Cant afford it. Could of if it was reasonable like a tenner.
2) Train would of been £12
3) On Tv, and i could work in the morning.
4) Its to hard to get to Piccadilly from ground after match.

But why, I couldn't give a flying one who went and who didn't esp not number printed in the local rag. Christ, there was a time when we didn't even get 2,000 fans for home games and your worried that someone might think we only took that to Old Trafford!

Okay, it's not the most important thing in the world, but I was a bit annoyed by that cock up in the post too.

That upper tier holds at least 6,000, so there must have been 4,000 Reading fans there.

I think it is important that the Post gets this right. As some people on here have said, it was an expensive day out, a late return and close on the heels of the league game. Might have been nice for the post to give credit to the excellent support and great number of people that showed up.

And if you really don't care about attendance figures, then don't reply to the post.

Man Utd supporting colleague at work, who attended the game, said it looked like there were about 4,500 Royals fans at the game. He also said we were the loudest bunch of away fans they've had at OT this season.....well done to all those that contributed (or should I say created!?!) to the atmos at OT!

Mr Fenn - The Southbanker in the EP cares about attendances. Remember his article slating the Blackburn fans or lack of them?

Shame that we won't even see half the reported figure at the Middlesbrough match for what is argubley a more important game.
