I just have a better understanding of some of the background than many, I think, and of the way business and the real world work in practise.

Also a very highly developed sense of fair play, a hatred of ignorance and prejudice, and a real dislike of people posting opinions as facts on message boards when they have minimal knowledge of the true situation or any real background information.

But I am always happy to knock RFC when they do screw up - for instance, I posted recently that the outsourcing of the ST credit payments to a finance house is a bad idea. Again, I can understand why they've done it, but I think it would be much better if they hadn't.

Does it matter?

Is there not a small print that says "this information is confidential"?

Anyway, why haven't I got anything about renewing yet so I can complain.

Oh, as far as I was aware, almost all businesses have to keep some track of that information in some way.

I think this topic comes under the same heading as the person moaning about number printing on a worn shirt.

Some people will moan about anything, no matter how small or trivial. Is there really that little going on in their lives that they fell the need to take RFC to taks over every tiny little matter?

I've never really understood this kind of monitoring. What is the point of it?

Will the club be forced to operate a positive discrimination policy when the extension is completed in order to ensure that the crowd is ethnically and sexually representative of the local community?

I consider ethnic monitoring more than a tiny matter.

On the renewal form, 60% of the form is used to record and collect the information required to renew a season ticket. 40% is used for Equal Opportunity Monitoring. 0% is used to renew your STAR membership.

Behindu Based on the form they can't tell if you ..... have an illness or what the colour of your skin or reigion is

Apart from the questions

What is your 'Religion' and 'What is your ethnic group?' and 'Do you consider that you have a disability'

Sorrry, shoddy wording by me ! I meant the ST application form itself rather than the additional bit

What difference does it really make to your life? I know if I filled it out it would make no difference to mine.

Two reasons this matters to me.

1. I disagree with the principle of collecting information of a racial or religious nature that will be used for political means.

2. This data collection excersise costs money which I think could be used elsewhere. It's red tape costing business money.

This is now the official nadir in the history of threads moaning about petty things. Surprisingly the dirty shirt rule thread only managed to be the worst ever for less than a week

Skyline Spacey will have a problem answering - there's no option for Klingon.

Put yourself down as having a Afghani up bringing, slightly suicidal tendancies and hatred of all things European. Long as you pay the £540 R£ading FC will give you your ticket no problem.

If you combine this issue and the shirt one you end up with ethnic cleansing.

Especially when you read the bit on the form that says " Whilst not required to complete your Season Ticket Application, we hope you will assist us in completing the questions below". So for all those who don't want to just don't fill it in.

I'd still, genuinely, like to know what can be done with this information. Not just from the RFC perspective but with any questionnaire that seeks information on race, sexuality or disability.

Does anyone here collate this kind of information for their employer? What do you do with it?

Let's assume that almost all of the respondants in this survey are free of disability and are white/British. Would the club need to take action to "correct" the situation?

It could be a marketing thing, If 90% of us tick that we're gay the club will launch a pink away kit and a new range of hats.

If you put yourself down as black and they see a white person sat in your seat could it lead to an ejection?

I personally won't bother filling in the survey part as I see no reason for it, I'm a Reading supporter and a customer, that's all they need to know.

Dirk Gently Ever thought it might be that the club are being pressured by some outside body to produce stats on the ethnice diversity of their support?

It may or may not be Reading Borough Council, the FA, the Premier League, etc etc - or someone else , but I very much doubt that this is something that RFC would be doing for their own benefit.

As long as people pay them I doubt if they care about their ethnic diversity or sexual preferences etc....

Poor, poor fishing attempt by Alad!

But if it makes you happy, I'll ignore the truth and say how outrageous it is that the club are that the club are spending all that money just in order to produce a survey deliberately to piss off their loyal fans.

Happy now?

They need a "Sometimes" option for any "Do you have AIDS?" type questions.
