£18 (though that's not too bad), basically reserve sides, Carling Cup, it's on TV.

Take your pick.

Liverpool have fans all over the country and due to the way their tickets are allocated often need to go to ensure they get tickets for bigger games.

Yes, yes it would be good for, say, Barnsley, but Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

So, not unexpected at all.

I wonder how many of the 4K actually live in Liverpool? I think you would find that they will probably be from the local area/London.

I know one Reading ST who is going in the south stand as he is primarily a Red before a Reading.

I think it's heading for a sell-out. Ticket office phone line is maxed out - 50 in the queue! The recorded message says they are dealing only with ticket sales for the Liverpool game.

Bloke at work is a mad Liverpool fan - he has just signed up for 5 member cards and 5 tickets in the north stand for tonight.

Will be a lot of that going on tonight.

A crowd of 23k or so isn;t going to have sections of empty seats - it will be seats dotted round the ground.

Not sure why having a few empty seats would 'look bad' - lots of televised games aren;t sold out but there are hardly headlines about it next day.

sam158_uk considering last year this fixture sold out straight away

No it didn't. There was no equivalent fixture last year. When we played them in the cup it was at their place.

Lets hope the stewards get them out of the home areas. Instead of wasting there time on telling Reading fans to sit down constantly.

I would hazard a guess that this game may sell out. Don't count your chickens!

Purely basing it on the number of genuine people that I know living in my area, that have decided today to get a ticket in the Reading end, due to no fees on the member card. All liverpool fans.

my worry is the number of NON- genuine people that may have done the same.

Quite correct. The League game sold out double quick but then fans could expect strong line ups from both camps.

Given the seeming "not bothered" attitude from both teams plus the fact its on SKY, I'm not entirely surprised to see it selling a little slower.

the league game already had 18,000 season ticket holders attending so you cant compare it with this fixture
