Waitrose food

by Only one Trevor Morley » 18 Aug 2008 17:54

There I was, holding off my lunch so I could sample Waitrose finest only to find that the only Waitrose product is a steak and Kidney pie (I hate kidney). For those who did try it, was it a better product than normal?

I thought that Waitrose would be supllying all of the food but alas roll over hot dogs and pies supplied by one of those suppliers that all supply Spar seems to remain the order of the day

 it takes a little while longer than a month to put that sort of logistics in place. For one, Waitrose have never offered this type of catering before.

If you mean the "pizza pocket" you are delusional. I would rather eat my own eyes.

Other types of Waitrose food will be available in due course, but, as stated, it takes a little time for the details to be worked out. I understand a meat and gravy pie is on its way, and ditto pasties.

I'd be chuffed if they offered a few simple baguettes or sarnies in the concourse.

I prefer a Cornish one myself.

Probably - those were the only options I remember hearing when this was mentioned.

Was it suggested at some point that there may be a discount at Waitrose supermarkets for ST holders? Or did I imagine that?

For pre-match food, you can't go far wrong with a cheeky carvery from the "Upsy-Down" - £3.50 and the portions are large enough to keep even the most rotund happy.
