Home Games - Photo's

by Thou Voice » 27 Jan 2009 18:16

I apprichate that we're not allowed to take SLR camera's into the ground - but can anyone please advise on a good digital camera to take that they own and perhaps a photo or two at the stadium that was taken with it?

Thanks.

Surely any old 5 mega pixel cam on your moby is good enough? Some of my pictures taken are as clear as you could ask for.

Against Boro, first Premiership game and with an old 3 megapixel Samsung phone.

Why aren't we allowed to take SLR Camera's into the ground to take photos?

Because people who own SLR cameras are almost always professional photographers who will later sell or publish their images.

The mobile camwera idea works if you aren't too high up the seating. Where I am the pictures make it look like the smartest Subbuteo game in the world. I have a really nice Canon that I may take along sometime so that I can use the zoom (10x digital and a further 20x digital)

Taking pictures on a phone is a nice idea but how on earth do you get them off the phone ! I've got stacks of pics on mine and no idea how to get them somewhere more useful....

Why was it unhelpful? Do you not have a PC? More information would be helpful!

With the latest range of relatively low cost, decent quality SLR cameras now available, that statement is far too broad brush.

You can take photos openly prior to the game, in the intermission and at the end. The FA allegedly have ownership and broadcasting rights over any images taken during a game. Taking a camera phone into a game is not something that can be challenged. The only time i took an SLR into a game openly was at QPR in 2005. At home games i have seen stewards threaten to confiscate cameras or evict the people concerned. A 5Meg mobile is sufficient to take general shots but not the exciting action shots that some could crave.

I'm planning on taking a Digital Camera to the QPR game...will i get thrown out for doing so?!

It'll be my first away game in 2 years! Looking forward to it, will be a great day out.

Before I knew all this about cameras, I took a small digital Canon Ixus in and took a few photos of the team warming up from row F. I did get some funny looks from people, but the steward right in front of me didn't do anything. Just as well.

Buy a small bluetooth for a usb port, and it's as simple as sending your pictures, video etc across to any mobile.

I've been told that the club are quite hard on cameras. However, I suspect that they're partly concerned about video - SLRs, of course, mostly don't take video. I've taken my camera to plenty of away games without problem, and I've used my camera a few times at home. Frankly, unless you're sat near the front or you have very expensive lenses, you're unlikely to get any shots that could be sold.

If you're using a compact, SO9, you'll be fine. If you're worried, carry it on your person not in a bag, I suppose, as you're less likely to be searched.

Oh, and Jay, you're pictures are frankly attrocious!
