CMRoyal Disappointing, but before we start beating ourselves up about this, it's maybe worth noting that Sheffield United couldn't sell all their tickets for last night. A sign of the times!

Yes, but their ground holds over 30,000.

Yes but they come from a city with a great footballing history and tradition....

Marketing at the club have missed a trick today, they should have left the prices the same as pre ordered, seats left are singles in N, E UW LW, so cant go as a couple, and the ones in the south are at the top, front, and nearest to the west, so the worst seats on offer.

Dont think there are more than just over 1000 left, so should be 23k, thats highly respectable. On telly as well. HNA will be dead tonight I might do the match thread all on my own.

Irrelevant. With their fan base, failure to fill the ground for such a key game is noteworthy to say the least. I have a Blades-supporting fan who said in an email that he's "embarrassed" about it. He shouldn't be; like I say, it's a sign of the times. Many cash-strapped fans are having to pick and choose their matches at the moment and many of theirs will have gambled on there being a trip to Wembley in the offing.

Anyway, we'll likely see a 23,000+ crowd tonight, which is all to the good.

Lower west, east, north and south stands
Adult £26.50, 65 and over £20.50, 17-21 £20.50, 16 and under £15.50

Utter wankers. R£ading FC.

Would there have been complaints if people had been deprived of their 'pre match day' discounts though ?

I'd have applauded the club if they had done this game at a real discount for everyone - £15 adults, £5 kids.

Guaranteed sell out and scramble for tickets.

I suspect the rules may prevent this as IIRC the playoff receipts are put in a pot and shared.

19,000 for a play-off semi final

by rhroyal » 13 May 2009 00:19

From a brilliant fans response to relegation at Derby last season to this in 12 months. What happened? I'm honestly embarrassed.

everyone knew what was coming to be honest, we sold out for birmingham and had the same away fans. I honestly think people thought we'd lose and didn't want to go through it all again...they were right though, weren't they?

If there has ever been as spectacular fall from grace in four months I have not seen it. I wanted to believe otherwise but we were never going to win. I think that people just lost the faith, which is all the more sad as a send off for SSC. Let's face it, the mist descended.

The commentators on Sky were saying that the crowd were pensive and didn't appear to believe. I think a fair reflection.

Such a shame the team came out to applaud the support and only a smattering of home supporters stayed behind.

Not oxf*rd deathy, but they could see it was not selling. last game of the season at home, nothing to lose really. Or they could have used some of the Tv money to do as Tzu Su suggested and lower prices.

It's called a recession. Not helped by shit football at home for over 4 months, and no win at home in that time either. Most knew a defeat was on the cards. may as well offered the cost of na ticket to a charity instead to be honest, and stayed home and watched 'enders. :|

The enthusiasm has been drained out of us over the last few months. When you have such a bad run of results at home it is inevitable.

Over the 40 years I've supported Reading I can't remember having such a bad run at home. Even when we were relegated to Div 4!

Err... Tuesday night game?

Surely if we'd have had the Saturday game then the gate would have been higher?
