I would suggest this is due to the point that turns has made above.

The groupsave was a special offer that like all special offers, with no set end date, can be withdrawn at any time. The offer basically allowed 4 people to travel for the price of 2.

From what I can see now the best offer, without any form of discounted cards, is for £18.80 per person.

Does that mean that anyone who has already booked a Group Save is unable to use it on the day or do FGW have to honour it?

Still honour it TROLI. It's a tab money grabbing isn't it to slowly react to a high volume of people using the trains.

According to Network Rail at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/groupsave_calendar.html the only Groupsave restrictions on 30th May is for FGW services out of Newquay.

However, the FGW groupsave calendar at http://www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk/Documents/Custom/GroupSave/group%20save%20barred%20dates%202011%2001%2010.pdf hasn't been updated beyond 30th April, but you can clearly see that it is their policy to impose restrictions when there are major events such as football.

Will the price of a travel card still be £20.50 if bought on the Monday?

For those interested, group saver from Basingstoke to Wembley is coming out at £12 each if booked in 4's. Can anyone beat that?

For the sake of less that half a pint in London you might as well get the travelcard and then not have to worry about where your ticket is and isn't valid.

I know I could google but you guys are the fount of all knowledge. We've got 4 young kids (10/11yrs) with us and are going to travel up by train from Newbury to Paddington. What's the best route from there to Wembley that does not involve too many changes - I just know one of them will wander off!! Also are there any fast food outlets near Wembley or am I better off feeding them at Paddington.

One day travelcard, with a network card, is about 13 quid IIRC and you can get off in Lonners and have one of their magical overpriced pints
