Royal Rother Don't know whether this has already been discussed but the £5.3m loss is for the y/e June 2010, yes?

Sigurdsson was sold in August 2010, yes?

Surely these accounts are to the y/e June 2011? They will include Sigurdsson, but won't include Mills or Long.

Interesting article in Evening Standard tonight - headline:

" FREEDMAN: HEROES WILL STAY AFTER SHOCK WIN"

It starts: "Having beaten United, boss says cash from Carling Cup run means Palace can fend off Premier League interest in their top stars"

hmmm very interesting - one cup run from a micky mouse competition which no one watches - no daft accounting entries to create artificial losses there.

Haven't they just had most of their debt written off by going into administration? And it's not exactly like they've only just been relegated or lost their parachute payments either. Can't imagine their wage bill is huge.

Besides, all it actually means is they can hold out for a higher payout. If someone decent wants to spend a few million on Ambrose they'll struggle to keep him no matter how much they've got.

Since when has what managers say to local papers about club finances reflected the real world and what actually happens?

The accounts for Reading FC for year end 30th June 2011 are now logged with companies house.
I am very much a novice at reading and understanding financial statements however it appears the club made a 5 million loss for the year-with turnover down from 27mill the previous yr to 17 mill(parachute payment ceasing i assume).
The accounts also state that since the year end players have been bought for £1.189 mill and sold for £9.075 mill
hopefully someone with an accounts background can disect the figures more throughly.

If it's up to the 30th June it does not include the sale of Shane Long and Matt Mills?

Since you cant see it I will answer the obvious, the accounts end June 2011 , so any ins and outs after that will be in the next set of figures.
