Think of us exiles.. I've been away to Hull, Burnley, Forest, Boro, Blackpool, and have tickets for Doncaster, Barnsley, Peterborough & Birmingham, as well as two home games, with another coming before the end of the season. Can't exactly get a season ticket. Also to note, not even half capacity for these games..

Luckily STAR are brilliant and send out ticket request forms a month in advance, and even offer a northern away season ticket, as well as exile forums - this year, me and Trevor (the northern exiles) met with Brian and Nigel before the Burnley game and just chatted for an hour.

I can't really think of any reason why this would affect next season apart from cup games. If we don't get promoted, we wouldn't sell out any away games next season (like this season?), and would continue to bring a few hundred to away games. If we do win promotion, then there could be a chance of selling out the London games, but places such as Swansea, Norwich, Stoke etc etc wouldn't get even half full.

Personally think they should have taken away all the points pre relegation from the Premiership. There will come a point down the line when the next generation of fan won't be able to go to the big games.

As an exile with 900+ points, I'm not too worried about this. If we go up, I went to all the 'big club' grounds first time around (well Liverpool was in the FA Cup)....All the grounds I haven't been to probably won't sell out (Stoke, Norwich or even Wigan  ). I personally think this system is fairer. My last season ticket was in our first year in the Prem, price and distance forced me out after that. It may have helped me to get certain tickets by having a higher number of points, but I haven't had a season ticket for ages and surely at some point my previous earnings need to go. I do go to about 10 games a year, mainly away...but just because I do that doesn't mean that I DESERVE access to tickets more than people who fork out for 23 (or 19) home games a season. If that person is glory-hunting child, then so be it. Many of us started supporting the club that way...

Does anyone know how many royalty points you get for renewing your ST?

I think, given the circumstances surrounding your almost obligatory match attendance home and away with corresponding method of match ticket purchasing, there are two words for this:- vested interest.

Not good for me, been home and away for over 12 years, recently stopped going to home games, rubbish atmosphere, costs £15-£20 in travelling, plus food, drink and betting. Looking at around £75- £100 for a home game.
Away game, better atmosphere, better supporters, day out. £100-£150.
I can't afford to do both, so I save and go to away games, which I find more enjoyable. Perhaps its because generally stewarding is relaxed, and there aren't so many screaming kids around, and can normally sit where you want with you mates.
Premiership with priority going to sth away days to all London games will be full of kids who have their £90 st. Which is one reason I don't come to home games.
I grew up in the southbank, and went to away days and had no problem, (nor did my dad) about swearing, its part and parcel with sport, if you don't like it don't go.
I fear the club is bullying its real supporters out, the elm park boys are no more, with there swearing and standing up. Reading fc is a family club. And will soon be like coventry, with no atmosphere and no fans. You can only annoy someone so much before they decide enough is enough and go watch someone else or put their hard earned cash into something else.
To the strip club anyone???

I've said it before and I still think it's valid. The priorty should be for those fans who are prepared to queue up at the ticket office to get their tickets. Anything else makes it too easy for plastics who are not prepared to sacrifice work and family committments to get tickets to jump the queue at the expense of the hardcore fans.

what about the hardcore fans that travel from outside the county for the games and who can't que up at the ticket office?

season ticket holders should always have first dips at away and cup tickets. they are the ones that are prepared to cough up the lump sum at the beginning of the season. yes when we are promoted, whenever that may be, there will be johnny come lately's who buy a season ticket, but you like them have the choice to do so too.

then, for as long as we have a points system in place, they should get second dibs, in order of royalty points.

I'm a touch unclear why you think that I don't have a season ticket. In fact I live about 100 miles from Reading I have a season ticket and rarely miss any game; home or away. That doesn't mean that I agree with the system that the club has for selling away tickets though.

i don't remember saying you did or did not have a season ticket. i merely pointed out you, like everyone else, has the choice to buy one and get the same privilege's. if you disagree with the new policy i suggest you contact the club and make yourself heard. whining about it on here will achieve nothing.

Yeah nice one, I live 100 miles from Reading and travel to every home match as a STH. I also had a job do would be unable to queue uonger 09.00 on a Tuesday morning. So I don't get to go to any priority games then?

It's unlikely that I would either, but it will allow local fans supporting their local club priority, which has got to be good for the game hasn't it?

haha, I did LOL to this.

Unfortunately there will always be someone who feels hard done by.

I agree that if you live up north (or far away from Reading) like some posters have said, and can't get to the home games, then it does seem unfair that you would be pushed out of the away tickets.

I think it's far to say that sometimes attendences at games doesn't necessarily mean you are more deserving of tickets. I do think though, it goes a long way to it, but there is a hell of a lot more to be said regarding loyalty, who deserves what, etc...

Compo came up with a good point. Pretty soon, points will lose their meaning as they get higher and higher and higher. Plus it will discourage newer fans, or younger ones who haven't got the 2000 points or whatever it is these days.
