Ipswich (H) - Away allocation

by SPARTA » 31 Jul 2013 21:28

Ipswich have been given an additional 500 tickets (2700 now) and have R30. I was surprised to see though that we are selling tickets to home fans next to them, so how does that work for segregation under the stand?

The partition is in the middle, but Ipswich will be one rows worth in our side. In the past this wasn't allowed as they couldn't allocate toilet facilities etc..

Bizarrely, Ipswich are getting a little light headed and think this is quite an exceptional away following. Apparently their highest in 10 years. Bit surprising that.

And our seats sold so far in R31 and 32.

That's not what I'm asking about. The stand can be cut off down the middle, with a ladies and a gents in each half of the stand, as well as food and drink facilities. If they encroach into our half, which they will be, then how do the club provide separate facilities for them and us in our half? I imagine this is now the maximum we can give them, as we are selling the rest of the stand to our fans, and they will somehow use a temporary partition in the concourse so they end up using their half of the stands facilities - answered my own question now..

And I don't agree with the more of them the better. In the past when we used to give the whole stand to away fans, they created so much noise that it drowned out our couple of thousand that sing, (by more than 2-1), and it almost always gave those sides the edge. I'd sooner the 2300 was given out and have some empty seats next to them.

RFC balls up. Couldn't be bothered to wait a week and sell tickets in the other stands. Quite stupid from the club really.

I'm sat at the other end of R31. Don't get how the toilet/bar situation is going to work. I've not been to a match where they've done this before at the Mad stad. Anyone know?

East Stand is pretty much full other than Y19, not sure about North- but i'd imagine a lot will move into lower west

Or not many sold in the South Stand.....if we've only sold a couple of hundred in the South, and Ipswich want to take more than double that extra, it's probably easy enough to find a couple of hundred seats elsewhere to move the home fans to....
That, or during the shutdown we've added segregation gates in the South which allow us to incrementally add sections to the away support and take the extra revenue that would generate?

It doesn't seem a fair thing to do, but why would the club sell the south stand before other areas have sold out? Makes no sense to me - whoever sells out their bit first (or at all) gets the other half seems fair to me.

Since when has fairness had anything to do with ticket allocations? It's all about maximising revenue.

As it'd the first match I'd assume everyone thought that Ipswich wouldn't want more than half the stand so they put the other half on sale, but had very few takers. Now Ipswich want more than they first thought - and more than we've sold there - it makes sense to let them have them.

Re segregation, I agree it makes sense to have movable doors/barriers in the concourse, and that's something they've wanted for a long time .. but even if that's not there, is it a disaster if a couple of hundred home fans and a couple of hundred away fans share a section of the concourse? It's hardly a needle match with lots of "history", and an extra large stewarding presence should prevent/resolve any problems.

The club is simply looking to maximise ticket sales, so have given Ipswich additional tickets. You should be happy as it's more money in the bank to cover the costs of the high wages Drenthe, Bridge, Guthrie and Pogrebniak are on.

So do you actually know? Because it seems that everyone else is just speculating on how it'll work? No dig, jut asking...
