It's not exactly a major hardship. And I don't see how anyone can think it's costing extra. It's just the same stewards who'd be there anyway doing something annoying rather than just standing and watching.

Royal Lady :?: Are they looking for someone in particular?

They did it for a bit last season too.

On Saturday, they let a young boy through and then had beef with his dad because he had a member card and couldn't prove where he sat or something....
maybe...just maybe... they were trying to help the newbies find their newly bought seats?

Nah, they wouldn't stop everyone then. And they show no one to their seat.

I haven't contacted the club about it because it isn't THAT big a deal, however, I was interested to know why they were doing it at all and so I asked the question on here, on the offchance that someone on here might have known.

Didn't seem to be a problem on Saturday.

More stewards? I was thinking there were less this year. They certainly seem to have cut back on the Agency staff maybe in anticipation of smaller crowds.

And if they are checking STs in Y24 they will have a good reason for doing so, despite all our idle speculation.

Why would you give your sausage and chips to the steward when he wants to see your season ticket? Was it some sort of bribe or a weird Jedi mind-trick

Didn't seem to be enforcing it at Fulham, then back to it again against millwall.

These aren't the chips your looking for.

Stewards seem to be getting really arsey this season. Was walking up to the gate, wallet out, just fishing out the ST and the stewards goes "Have you got a ticket?" No love i'm just gonna stick my Nectar card in and see if I get lucky.

To be fair it wasn't so much being asked but the way she asked. I don't know how anyone could make such a seemingly inoffensive question sound so downright aggressive.

Don't feed the stewards else you'll never get rid of them.

Next time, wave a golden gamble ticket and say "Yes, I bought one from your colleague outside".

This is a real pain in all fairness when you've bought food and then have to juggle it around to get your ticket back out of your pocket/wallet. But over the past two games I have had a group of 2/3 16-18 year old lads try and squeeze into our row in Y25, usually where theres not enough seats for them aswell.. Needless to say one of them usually skulks off back down the stairs when they realise we wont move along for them to fit in, just a bit annoying to be honest, didnt happen once over the last couple of seasons IIRC.

So I guess I can see why they're doing it.. Not that it's working
