That was the problem, we sold out early and left it too late to take the additional allocation. IIRC it was only 3000. Once the tickets were sold out they decided to lay on the coaches. Could have been a lot more going if they acted earlier.

I seem to remember there being a lot of us at Villa in the league cup. We has the lower tier behind the goal and half of the lower tier along the length of the pitch.

Schmichael and Ginola lined up for VIlla... Think we lost 1-0

Bournemouth away the year we won the League under FSB. We must of had 80% of the crowd.

Was going to suggest this as they gave us one side of the ground as well as the usual away end. Just looked it up and the attendance for that match was 7,106 so maybe not the biggest. Reckon we had about 5000 of that number there that day, which was amazing for those times, and that it was on a Friday night.

Good numbers for Arsenal away in early 70s in FACup according to the old man.

Southampton away League cup quarter final replay in 79 decent too.

Recent times it must be the Arsenal league cup game in 05.

The Southampton match was in '78 and was a 4th round replay. We lost 2-0. There were no facilities in the away end - no loos or refreshments. About ten mins before KO, a number of us asked to be allowed into the adjoining section to use the loo but the stewards refused. Left with no option, there then followed a long line of Reading fans peeing up against the rear wall. Five minutes later a long line of Hampshire's finest filed into the away end, leaning back against the same, probably still slightly damp, rear wall. They were totally bemused by the peels of ironic laughter they were met with.

Bristol City away......about 5,500.

But best of all Bristol City fans ripping up and depositing season tickets on the pitch.......were there even any games left at home for them ? Think they got proper angry as we mainly laughed at them (ala man on crutches at Brentford away). Police horses made an appearance too).

After, we all got frogmarched from the stadium en mass and remember we passed several side streets and I was near the front in a group of about 15 or so. When passing one side street about the same number of Brizzles ran at us but by the time they got near us the other 2,500 had closed the game and after a fake charge by the Reading fans they about turned to huge amusement from us.
