That's a oxf*rd horrific decision. Last season I went from never buying food at the stadium to getting to the game early for food and my gf insisting she come.

Lower West Let's hope that Compass will improve the offering if they are responsible for outdoor catering as well. Understandable from the clubs POV that there's one caterer. Blue collar was far from cheap. Did baulk at some of the prices being charged. What's required is a well priced offering. Then everybody benefits.

I didn’t mind the prices, tbh, as you knew you were getting a tasty meal. I think it was like £7 or something for sweet chilli chicken from the Korean place outside the east stand and that was 100% worth it.

The prices charged inside the ground were even worse I should have said earlier. Given the wholesale prices of food. A rip off.

Maneki Neko compass also have a hygeine rating of 1 at the stadium :|

agree that the local pies were decent tbf

You have to be really bad to pick up a hygiene rating of 1!

I wouldn't knowingly eat food from any caterer who scores less than three. Yet, instead of terminating their contract, the club decide to reward them by extending their operations! Will they do the right thing and insist that Compass prominently display their hygiene rating so that supporters can make an informed decision as to whether they want to pay over the odds for a crap food offering that could well make them ill as a bonus!

Unlike Compass with Blue Collar you got what you paid for -high quality food from decent ingredients. There were cheaper offerings on sale too. IIRC some items were no more expensive than you would pay for those from the crap offering inside.

Would be good to get STAR involvement here to provide some fan liaison with the club.

Clearly the fans want Blue Collar Food and the club also needs to justify why they have chosen a provider with a hygiene rating of 1 to replace them.

A hygiene rating of 1 is seriously awful and should be enough to end their contract on its own

This is exactly the sort of thing STAR should be involved in.

The optics of this are awful surely - terminating a contract with a small local run business exactly when they need it most?

Contract wasn't terminated, just wasn't renewed.

Shame, really liked the idea they'd pitched for Coppell's Corner etc.

Well Reading the plans for next weekends game, seems that there will be no interior catering at all. The external space by the East Stand will be the de factor concourse, so if Compass have that contract then handing a new deal to a rival would likely have seen legal challenge from them.

Only that's not the reason Royals Support have given. They suggested Blue Collar weren't successful enough, whereas Blue Collar have stated that is untrue and that they were exceeding all the targets set by the club!

Furthermore, had the club included fulfilment of basic food hygiene requirements within the catering contract, as they should have surely done, then Compass would not be a position to make any legal challenge! Anyone who makes themselves aware of how poor you have to be to get a hygiene score of 1 will surely avoid the Compass catering outlooks like the proverbial!

Perhaps when Covid has passed there'll be a review.

Well that doesn't add up if true but if there is one active contract with Company A to provide a concourse concession and an expired contract with Company B to supply external concession - if is completely understandable, if unfortunate, that Company B do not see their contract renewed esp. as given the set up required for fans to attend means there is no internal concession.

In fact, it looks like you won't even be able to access where the food is without having your ticket checked, so the food is "inside" the ground at this point - therefore (and without knowing the length and full terms of the Compass contract), the club probably have little choice in continuing with Compass esp. if they are meeting the terms of their contract.

True view of the situation will only become clearer when football returns to "normal" and that is unlikely to be this season.
