Defo should be expanding this deadline with so much uncertainty. I know loads who haven't renewed yet (and they all want to). Saying that, I'll probably renew late on the 14th. Anything to save £35

I'll probably do the same - for the saving and to keep our seats that we've had since season two at the Mad Stad/SCL. Credit card should at least ensure I get my money back if Dai and co succeed in killing our club.

Dear Reading FC Supporters,

We understand that there are many questions surrounding the renewal of season tickets during these uncertain times. STAR has had discussions with the Club regarding extending the renewal period beyond the existing deadline but this is unfortunately not possible. In the interests of absolute transparency, the reasons for this are as follows:

The Club has allocated resources and planned their cash flow around the renewal week deadline. Extending the period would disrupt their operations. As a fanbase we are more aware than ever of the cashflow difficulties that exist at present, and understand the need to be able to ensure continued operations.

A significant number of season ticket holders have already renewed. Extending the deadline could be viewed as unfair by those that have acted promptly to renew and secure the discounted price.
We recognise that some fans hesitate to renew due to concerns about ownership. This is entirely understandable and we all want a custodian for this club that will treat it with the respect and dignity it deserves. With exclusivity recently expiring the timeline for resolving this issue remains uncertain.

We recognise, and feel the impact ourselves, that purchasing a season ticket is a substantial expense. Unfortunately the Club is still unable to secure credit to enable instalment payments. We recommend that anyone purchasing a season ticket considers using a credit card for added security. If, for any reason, the Club cannot fulfil the season ticket, paying by credit card ensures that you would receive a refund (pro rata) under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Thank you for your continued support of our Club.

Let’s look forward to the season ahead! Up the Ding!

I had the same thought process but, knowing how the club's (and tbf other businesses') systems can have an unfortunate tendency to go tits up at a critical time, renewed ours just now using a credit card.

Do you risk someone else buying your seat if you don't renew by the deadline?

From 18th June: 24-25 season ticket holders can move seats if they wish.
From 19th June: 24-25 season tickets are on general sale.

So there would seem to be a risk of that happening from 18th of June.

I guess it depends how good a seating position you have, as to whether others might fancy sitting there. That's one of the reasons I have already renewed ours, as we are sat in a row directly behind a disabled seating area, so pretty much unobstructed views for the grandkids when they come.

Renewed about a month ago for the 3 of us
Had the same seats since the Madejski opened so wouldn't want to ever lose them (although back then there were 5 pissed lads sat there instead of me and my 2 kids, how times have changed)

Numbers are in line with expectations. The idea that there would be a mass boycott is way off the mark.

Didn't think there would be a mass boycott, but I thought they'd be suppressed somewhat. I think we had around 8,500 STHs last season (including half); I thought we'd end up around 6,500. I don't know what the club's expectations would be though.

Club saying we're up 13% on last year's season tickets! https://x.com/ReadingFC/status/1801645787274690918

Not sure I buy that tbh, unless they're talking about at this stage.

If it's total 2023 STs and doesn't include half STs, we're probably looking at around 8,000-8,500. If it does include half STs, that implies around 9,600.

To answer my point, it must be at this stage.

The seat map is back on the website following movers' day, showing 6,552 season tickets (based on my usual calculation method and same segregation as last season).

That would be down 2,032 or 23.7% (from 8,584) on what we ended up with last season, compared on what we started with when season tickets went on sale on 4th April - everyone who could renew.

As they don't appear on the website, this doesn't include disabled or hospitality season tickets so the true number may be slightly higher.

Stand-by-stand:
  • Upper West: 759 (-191 / -20.1%)
  • Lower West: 1,369 (-193 / -12.4%)
  • North Stand: 887 (-443 / -33.3%)
  • East Stand: 2,783 (-576 / -17.1%)
  • South Stand: 754 (-629 / -45.5%)
