U21 charging

by bloody Volvo driver » 16 Sep 2024 14:29

I see the club are now charging for admission to U21 fixtures, that’s moved a free night to a £15 or so night (2-3 attending and parking). Won’t be a given anymore which is a shame.

I can sort of understand charging for admission, but to have to pay for parking on top when in reality there is no other choice is taking the whatsit.

I have no issues myself paying the £4.

Each event we host has significant operational costs and we need to ensure we can continue to provide a high standard of experience and safety for all attending fans. By introducing paid tickets, we can cover essential costs and offer fans an improved matchday experience, including:

Reserved seating in the West Lower: For the first time, seating will be reserved to help maximise capacity and improve the overall fan experience.
Enhanced catering facilities: With a clearer understanding of the expected crowd size, we are now able to provide catering services during these fixtures, adding value for supporters attending the matches.
Parking charges: Similar to our EFL Trophy games, we will need to charge for parking to manage the safety and flow of vehicles and smooth operations for matchday logistics.
We encourage fans to purchase tickets and parking early to benefit from the advanced ticket prices, which will ensure significant savings. Booking early also allows the club to optimise resource and operating expense to the forecast attendance. Our ticket office will not be open on the evening for sales, only for queries and collections.

I don't have issues with them charging, simply because they'll have costs related to the fixture - stewarding, electricity, etc.

It will suppress attendances, but does mean the club isn't making a loss on these games.
