We are the best southern supported team in what is mainly a northern league.

Jackson Corner We are the best southern supported team in what is mainly a northern league.

All the big away ends, aside Charlton, are in the north too. Imagine what our average would be if sides like Crawley, Leyton Orient or Bristol Rovers had grounds being enough to allow us to take 2/3k them - like at Wigan, Bolton, Blackpool, etc.

That's notwithstanding what would be the case if we had a more southern skew - we lost Oxford, Portsmouth and Cheltenham through promotion and relegation from last season.

Fair play to the 500 odd that went Wigan today. Saw a great win and well deserved by the sound of it. Tyler Bindon he hates the Swindon.

But yeah not the most desirable away ground to say the least. We play there a lot don't we? I went there when we were both in the Prem last time. Lost 3-2 it was shite. Should have a premier league buzz about it that game shouldn't it. Well it didn't. Well if it did I certainly can't remember it.

Brilliant win today tho. Up the ding!!!

I saw us win there years ago. 2-0, both goals from Nicky Forster.

Lancs Royal and my brother were there again on Saturday.

Reminds me of a story from a former nobber who was following Reading home and away every week during our first Prem season. He knew he would have to miss the second Saturday of the season due to his brothers wedding. When the fixture list was released and it was Wigan (A) he couldn't have been any happier, a ground we had played at a few times prior and loads of times since.

Played there in Jan last year, I had had a nice pub crawl and then genuinely thought about having a pie and then a nap.
We lost 1-0. Dire game.

Solo away days.

Anyone have any reccomendations or experience of going to away games alone?

I have always lived abroad and worked away so never been able to make it to a game but the stars have alligned and I may make it to Bristol Rovers.

Just a bit unsure what it'll be like, none of my mates support Reading, or live anywhere near

Used to go solo to away games all the time while I was at uni and currently go to home games solo. Always found the experience fine, so long as you're comfortable in your own company.

Yeah this. Was with a big group for Wigan, but had a good chat with a solo Reading fan in a pub. Plus Bristol Rovers is a great away day with loads of pubs on the Gloucester Road next to the Memorial Stadium that will be full of football fans.

Suspect it will be tricky getting a ticket for this one mind if you're not a regular. #Inflatables.

Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to make it work. Especially with the current ownership fiasco. Might not get another opportunity

I forgot about the inflateables on the last away day. Is it usually a sell out?

Bristol Rovers sold out last year when we had 1,300ish allocation. And it got moved to a Tuesday night. This season: last away game, Saturday 3pmer and Inflatables Day, it will sell out super fast.

Done it many times. As above, you have to be happy in your own company, but once you're in the ground (or in a pub, pre-match) then you don't feel alone - lots of chat supporting the common cause, etc.
