RIP ELM Parkmoo What's the parking like at Villa? Is it cheap and plenty of it?
I might be going alone.
It's mostly free and not all that plentyful unless you get there early. Street parking is the order of the day, it's not the best of areas either. Loads of resident only areas and the young local residents delight in breaking windows. If you're parking close to the ground I would strongly advise you don't have anything that id's your car as an away supporters.
Like most places in that part of the world if you don't want to stand out from a crowd ensure your knuckles a dragging along the ground, your mouth is hanging open (visible dribble a definate benifit) and smell like a public convieniance.

http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/park/yfh45/aston.htm Where To Drink?
There are a number of pubs in the vicinity of Villa Park, but most of them on match days are either members only or have bouncers on the door. However, Dave Cooper recommends the following for away fans; 'The Cap and Gown (formerly The Witton Arms), is not a bad pub, to which half the pub is given to away fans (there is even a separate entrance for visiting fans). It is only two minutes walk from the away entrance, right on Witton Island, however it does charge £2 per person to gain entry. Otherwise there is the Harriers, which is on Broadway, near to the school of the same name. It is ten minutes walk from the ground and you can usually find street parking in this area'. If you arrive a bit earlier then you may wish to visit the historic Barton Arms, located about a 15 minute walk away on High Street Aston (A34). This Grade II listed building, is one of Birmingham's finest pubs, with superb Victorian decor, serving Oakham ales and Thai food is also on offer. It was awarded the Birmingham CAMRA pub of the year award for 2004. Please note that alcohol is not available in the away end.

reading_fan Also, on the travel news front - the M6 is being dug up and resurfaced from junction 8 (M5) down to 6 (A38 - Villa Park junction) - I think they're still on the southbound side at the moment but the whole of the east side of the city's in chaos because of it so allow additional travel time coming up - especially mid week!
