Svlad Cjelli It's a part of the East half of the South Stand. If that half of the stand is sold first (and only that initially sold) then it's quite possible that the whole of that half of the stand is sold and tickets allocated there.

Later, when the other half (the West half of the South Stand) is put on sale then tickets there can be sold as a first priority.

I presume you weren't there on Saturday then?

Anyway, there were around 20 I'd say sat in that triangle - with around the same number of seats empty in that half of the south stand next to it. So, by my reckoning, they should have been sat in the main block in the South Stand, not in that triangle - knowing it was Cardiff - I'm surprised they would have even considered selling tickets in that wedge right next to Y26 and I'm pretty sure they didn't. The stewards just didn't bother to move them.

Certainly was. All I'm saying is that they might well have had allocated seats there. At one stage certainly, that half of the stand was all that was allocated to Cardiff ("initial allocation") and if that was the case they would have had all of it - perhaps someone in the Cardiff Ticket Office sold tickets in the wrong order or something like that.

More to the point, though, why is it a problem that the stewards didn't bother to move them? Were they causing any problems? Would moving them have introduced more problems than letting them sit there?

Are you honestly saying that the club were allowing Cardiff to sell tickets in that wedge next to Y26 - that's just asking for trouble surely? Surely they give Cardiff the first half (excluding the wedge) of the stand and then allocate them the second half of the stand if they ask for more?

And it was pretty obvious that Cardiff were going to bring a large away following. I stand by my assertion that some fans CHOSE to move from their seats in the "proper" bit of the South Stand in order to sit RIGHT NEXT TO THE EDGE next to Y26. And why there was no netting, I don't know. It was only pure luck that the fighting behind the TV screen didn't escalate. And I continue to believe that the stewards didn't have the bottle to ask the 20 or so fans to move back to their original seats.

As for being goaded by Cardiff fans when trying to walk past them to get down the hill and squeeze past their double-parked coaches, well that's par for the course isn't it. Our club needs to grow a pair when dealing with clubs such as Cardiff - keeping in for 10 mins after the game would have been a start.

I'm agreeing with RL

Plenty of clubs keep away fans in after the game. The stuff about false imprisonment argument is clearly total bollox.

But, is this a police or club decision?

We were kept in after the play off semi final. So, Cardiff could hardly moan about us doing same to them.

Maybe if communication was better..............

A few explanations of stewarding procedures communicated through Star, for example, wouldn't go amiss.

Stewarding meeting between STAR, fans, and the club have been arranged, fans really did not bother to turn up.

I'm not sure what communication you want as I have explained what I learned from shadowing both stewards and tangos, and as HSSC points out the chances we have set up to allow people to come and communicate with stewards are never well attended.

Does that mean I should try to set up another one?

Don't be daft, the people complaining don't actually want to do anything that might improve matters.

In many ways nore do the club, that corner was always going to be the flash point since the stadium layout was arranged and agreed. TBH the club should have made it so that the home lads that like a sing were North East. It might be too late now, though witha bit of thought could still happen.

Standers and moaners wont like it, but make Y25 and Y26 adults only with no concessions. Adjust the South again so that the away following are rarely sat alongside Y26, move the walkway in the middle over a little if needs be. Unlikely to happen as the club would rather keep filming and saying how hard it is to steward, rather than be pro active and lessen the flash point. Oh and get rid of the fecking drum too, stick him near the away fans.

Just got to say fair play to the stewards at Ipswich yesterday.

As soon as we walked in they told us if we went up towards the back that we could stand all game.

Right from entering the ground every body knew where they stood, if you pardon the pun.

It's more about justifying their existence. And once they have these shiny new toys, why would they not use them?

There's never been significant risk in the home areas to justify using them (and only rarely in the away end), so it's pure intimidation and power games.

Has anyone actually worked out if the operator has pressed record.

There's no proof of it, no - unless someone who was filmed wants to do a subject matter request.

Surely that's prima facie evidence of their effectiveness at suppressing disorder?
