BenReadingFC I've got to try and buy a friend a ticket with his card that has over 600 points on it. The thing is he doesn't know the password for it as he hasn't used it online before. I've already tried his postcode in upper and lower case and that's wrong. Ticket office is closed, any suggestions. Looks like I'll have to join the queue in the morning.

Ben - login online & add him to your friends & family. That way you can buy it for him. You will only need his member no & nothing else IIRC.

That might work but you have just helped a 600 pointer onto an equal footing with 1599!!

Oh well....

I'm sure it's in here somewhere, but I'm not reading 50 pages - where is our allocation? I'm curious to see how close I'll be from among the thousands of Stopfordians.

Christof
Christof Seeing as I appear to have very little chance of getting tickets for this game (423 points), I have emailed the club to request a definitive answer on the chance of the allocation being raised, and the possibility of them updating the website regularly on how many tickets are left (to save everyone queueing around the block for non-existent tickets). I will post any answer here if one is forthcoming.

23 hours (and 23 pages) on, a quick update on the club's response to my mail - there hasn't been one. There also appears not to be any update on the website stating the number of tickets sold, so thanks to the people who have posted what they have heard from the TO.

That says it all. So next time the Chairman's looking to undertake some cloth cutting, could I suggest that his Head of Communications be put at the top of the list. I reckon a job experience kid could have done a better job of keeping us informed.

(provided we kept Ashley Cole well away!)

I think also the postcode? but he has that so no worries...

In other news... is anyone else thinking this whole midnight ticket bonanza is going to be like the Amazon Black Friday deals where EVERYONE will come on here at 1201 saying how they can't understand how they didn't get one...

then a couple of people will come on saying they didn't even want to go but bought them 'just for fun'...

and then another guy will have bought a hundred tickets so he can sell them on...

Reading the discussion pages under those lightening deals was HILARIOUS.

Can we all agree that the ticket situation/allocation was fine before the free coaches? £20 for STAR travel was more than reasonable.

Not sure I would agree. Even without the free coaches it was unnecessarily tight, given the attractiveness of opposition, stadium and ticket prices.

if I can draw your attention to the 12th post on page 1 of this epic. Man City had made it clear that we would only be getting 3,000 tickets on 3rd March, unfortunately it took RFC another 2 days to announce this. Their fans were fully aware of this as none of the fans that were ST holders in the extra allocation for away fans had been asked to move their seats like the season ticket holders in the Colin Bell and East tier 3 had as per their OS on 3rd March.
So there was no way that City ever wanted to give us that further allocation, they could have got the fans to move out of this area, as they have with around 9,000 in the upper tiers thus leaving room for an extra take up for Reading if we had required it.
unfortunately our hand had been forced and there was no turning back.

RoyalBlue And when the dust has settled what will be remembered most about this game (over and above the team's fantastic win, of course!):

The free coach travel or the ticket allocation fiasco?

Neither, the game and indeed the entire 2011 cup run will be remembered for the many LOLz brought about by all the beffing on this thread

Great stuff guys

Of course, none of that is justified!

I guess that might be the view of someone who has already got a ticket or doesn't give a damn about getting one.

For those who do care, it will be the ticketing fiasco created by the supposedly really well run club!

They were shafted by their own stupidity and incompetence, nothing else.

Once again RFC know what the rules are but wanted to play things differently.

Why should Man City do us any favours and risk a financial loss themselves? If RFC wanted the tickets they should have been prepared to put their money behind it. Maybe they should have talked to Man City about paying half the cost of any tickets. Man City might have gone for that. But if RFC didn't want to offer any financial guarantees and Man City felt they could make money from selling those tickets why shouldn't they. Would RFC have behaved any differently if things had been the other way around?

Can I just say that Turns8 sounds like a right I'm alright pcunt.

Bigfoot and rcfjoe are also demonstrating that humour is something that has passed them by.

I don't think I can be arsed to go into the rights and wrongs of the rest of this thread. Suffice to say that RFC have cocked it up again. City beat Villa on the 2nd of March. Tickets went on sale on the 7th of March. How did it take that long? Was no one at the club aware of the date of the next round? The banding is shit. The tickets should have gone on sale last week.
