Silver Fox It wasn't the same product though Schards, had those provisions been in place for Spuds in the league do you think we'd have sold out?

Yes, I think it probably would as there would only have been 3,000 tickets up for grabs.

I take Dirk's point and the good points made by Quagmire, however, I believe these problems will resolve themselves next year. Even if we stay up, I would be surprised if we sell over 16,000 season tickets.

Don't get me wrong, i'll be one of them but it's clear to me from people I speak to and from what I read on here, that the novelty is wearing off for many and many will not renew. Last season was the first Premiership one in our history, this season followed a sensational performance last year, yet there was less demand for season tickets. Next year, after a less successful and less thrilling season? Who knows but my bet would be on there being plenty more tickets up for grabs on a week by week basis.

This would go someway to solving the problems addressed by Dirk and Quagmire.

Wycombe Royal What was the point of Schards highlighting that article?

The ticket office manager confirming the reduction in demand still being denied by a few flatearthers.

It's all there for those who want to see it.

Not many have actually denied that demand has fallen. What most are saying is that the demand is still there for expansion.

Dirk Gently Let me just pose a couple of questions here for people to consider :

- How many of you would love to bring friends/family etc along to matches if there was sufficient capacity for them and sufficient flexibility for them to sit with you?

- How many of you know people who would come to matches (either with you or separately) if there was capacity and greater (downward) flexibility in ticket prices?

Both of these options are impossible when there is minimal spare capacity.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. All of this was on offer for the Spurs match - sufficient capacity, ability to sit together, flexible (reduced) ticket price.

Actions speak louder than words, there were 2,000 empty seats.

I contacted the TO to see if they could give an idea of what the split was between STH and non-STH on Tuesday, but unfortunately the information is classed as commercially sensitive so they couldn't say.

Even that wouldn't be accurate as I'm sure some STH's didn't go but let someone else use it.

If Schards is middle class then I am a dutchman who spends Saturdays polishing tulips and refining my clog dancing routine.

Record attendance on Saturday. Despite the huge number of 'neutral' supporters in the home end even Schard's now agrees that expansion is feasible. The debate can now be closed.

Because the flexibility on prices currently not possible with our restricted capacity might help some who feel priced out to start coming again once the stadium is expanded?

People have moaned about being "priced out" for the past 3 or 4 seasons, yet for the handful that are genuinely "priced out" there are more willing to take their place.

Scenario 1. Directors Meeting.

JM - Nigel, thanks for your detailed business plan showing that we can make a stadium extension viable. Let's look at developing it now. I understand that we will not always fill the larger ground, but there is clearly scope to offer more seats to away fans on occasions like last Saturday (when Man Utd were here), and I can see that your market research has shown that we can sell more than enough tickets to make it worthwhile.

Scenario 2. Directors Meeting

JM - Nigel you idiot. I have heard that Schards #2 has decided he doesn't want to renew his ST next year. Don't you take any notice of the HNA subscribers? Your business plan stinks, I will listen to the HNA view above yours any day of the week. Scrap any thoughts of a bigger stadium, because it obviously can't be made to work - ever.

Which one sounds closest to the likely reality - I'll leave you to decide, but I know which one I'd go for. :D

I'd be fascinated to know where you heard I wouldn't be renewing my season ticket.

I'd rather we didn't let in more away fans than we currently do.

If we hadn't given Spurs the whole away end, the gate would have struggled to reach 20,000 at £20 a head.

Indeed, but would have still been a record gate for a reserve game.

Sorry, I just picked a name. Could have been anyone- it was the sentiment that was intended. Perhaps I should have specifically taken Atletico Spizz as the target name (given his thread on the Team board!)

The point isn't lost though, I hope. The fact that some Hob Nobbers can't be bothered to renew next year is hardly likely to sway JM's opinion.

They should actually be letting less Man Utd fans in next time around due to their persistent standing. However, wonder which counts most, income or safety?

That's down to the FA/Premier League, not RFC.
