The whole trouble is that they are carried by a steward, so anyone they are pointed at feels agrieved, and they react, presumeably negatively. The answer would be to put CCTV on poles down from the roof, proper ones that are a visible deterrant, not the ones so high they are of no concern.

Trouble is if you make CCTV any more prominent (it's bad enough already) then everybody feels aggrieved (even if only sub-consciously at first).

Yet when the stadium was planned they made a big deal out of the CCTV being tip top and able to identify troublemakers from afar, more bollox from those that should know better, RFC not EPR.

Apparently there is an advantage to having video taken at the same height as the subject - but what is often ignored is that even the most placid and law-abiding supporter in the world feels threatened and feels a natural impulse to react negatively when they have a video camera stuck ostentatiously in their face.

There's a big psychological difference between covert filming (which we all know about and take for granted) and overt filming, which inflames people.

Royal Lady I look forward to them being intimidated by West Ham fans a week on Saturday then.

Not that I saw - seemed like a decent bunch of people actually. One of them had a good long chat with us when we got there - really nice guy. Said they wouldn't even bother stopping people standing as there was no point. All the stewards I encountered did their job really well today actually.

Far easier to pick on the home support though.

Stood for most of the match and was left alone this time. I think the stewards have relaxed the policy a bit.

maybe we need a high vis day in response to the issues raised in this thread, the stewards may even not know who to film as everyone will be dressed the same as them.

Def. IN for Hi-Vis day, and we can film the stewards back on our camera phones.
