This is what they have done for female supporters, generally :|

besides the more info on the girls team the rest is bizarre, and would alienate me more than anything

Besides the Ladies team and the charity bit which should be done anyways the rest is a waste of time. To me all they are doing is treating female supporters differently to male supporters which totally riles me. I dont want healthy food, or fruit juice or wine. Pfffttt
obviously the supporters in the focus group are different to me

Is the wine, J2O and healthy food only available to ladies then?

Hope General B hasn't clicked on the above link. His afternoon's productivity may have increased.

I'm the only woman I've ever spotted in the East Stand who drinks wine and I hadn't noticed it had come down in price either!

What a load of old baloney.

They must sell minimal amounts of wine and not sure I've seen many people eating noodles.........
Whole thing is a bit patronising, like some of their other media recently

Well I went to this and I did ask for healthy food (amongst other things) - anything other than chips & burgers! - but I don't remember anyone asking for noodles and wine.

We all said we'd like more information on our own team in the programme and to see more of them - a simple acknowledgement of fan support at the end of a match would suffice - don't remember this happening though. And what's wrong with featuring the ladies team a bit more in the programme? They're doing well and a lot of young girls are interested in actively playing football - one of my nieces for a start.

I do feel a lot of what has been done is stuff that we were asked specifically if we'd like it so of course you say yes if it's offered on a plate e.g. replace towels in the ladies (they never said with what though) and add more mirrors.

We also asked for more merchandise for females in the shop that was comparable to the mens eg the training gear, but to get rid of the patronising "footy chick" stuff. Someone suggested they did things like hair accessories for girls as they love getting things like that, but haven't seen any evidence of this yet.

I personally feel if they want to get more women going to the Mad Stad they have to get out more and advertise where women will look other than the sports pages, but none of us wanted to change it to make it a more feminine experience. We liked it as it is and rejected any ideas of a ladies day (I think they had thoughts of it being like Ascot!). Don't remember anything about Breast Cancer Awareness day, nor do I remember this happening so that passed me by.

I totally agree about the women's fball team bit and have no problem with this at all - they are doing well and deserve recognition for that. I think its the article which has made it seem more patronising then it actually it.

Totally agree with the merchandise problem - all the female stuff is either baby blue or pink, with glitter or as you said with slogans like "footy chick" - which its beyond patronising.

You're right is saying the actual exp is fine as it is and ladies day would be a complete disaster in my eyes

Just be thankful they didn't do the same sort of supporter consultation that Millwall FC did a good few years ago. When asked how they could encourage more females to attend matches, someone suggested a "Bring yer bitch fer a quid" day.

Incidentally, ladies, I see that article also says that if you have any feedback or want to be part of the "female focus group" you just have to email sjacob@readingfc.co.uk to make them aware of your views.

Footy Chick is a brand/manufacturer. They also sell things like football boots, trainers, shin pads etc. because women do tend to be a slightly different size/shape than men! Their sports stuff is pretty good quality at a reasonable price. Not sure whether they still do but they had a couple of the England women's team promoting their gear at one point.

I take it men are excluded from adding their thoughts and input. Muddyfeet is spot on with most of her comments.

I think the ladies rep kits should have tassles on them.
A fine range of RFC lipstick.
Sweet smell of success perfume range.

Dumb it down please to entice more females to the match day experience. People (irrespective of gender) either show an interest or not and cheaper wine does not swing it either way.

Say whaaaat?!!! I'd drink more of it in the concourse if it was cheaper - not that I'd noticed it was, mind!!

Ah but you are a convert anyhow RL.

Jazz, beer, out for ciggie, in for a beer, out for a ciggie just as the evac process is getting tannoyed. Into the toilets for a pee, up into my seat and out for a ciggie, beer at half time. The ambience of the concourse is not something i wish to experience any more than i do. I refuse to buy from the stalls inside and outside the ground but do eat the jacket patato with cheese and beans before kick off.
Much of that is being discussed is peripheral to the actual football and will not have droves of people rushing through the doors.
