Coppelled_Streets and we don't lose seats.

That's not really an issue is it?

That'd be funny had it not come from a Chelsea fan who's club only discovered regular sell-out crowds when they were bought by a billionaire..

No - you're just remembering the 80s and early 90s m8. If you look back in history from the early 1900's up to the 80's were regularly got average attendances in the region of 30,000 to 50,000.

Do your homework first

The late 80's/early 90s when Chelsea got relegated and were mid table mediocrity? You do your homework fella.

I'm just pointing out for people who don't know. Chelsea's low attendances in the 80's and early 90's is a very small time scale in our history. We had big attendances prior to that period and we get big attendances now.

John and Coppelled Streets clearly need to brush up on their football history.

Post war Chelsea got big crowds but generally they have not been a hugely well supported team. Pretty average for a top flight side until they started buying success.

Pre war Chelsea were getting average attendances of around the 30,000 mark. Sometimes lower, sometime much higher.

That's a hyphen, not a negative indicator, as the additional space after it clearly shows

West Ham are a much bigger club than Chelsea and will fulfill their crowd potential with the new stadium. Chelsea are the fourth largest club in London after Arsenal, Spurs and the happy hammers.

They have gone from a club for the working class of West London to the plaything of a billionaire of dodgy means way of craving credibility, repectability and protection from the many Russians he has stolen from.

The crowds are swelled by the usual glory hunters from outside their normal catchment area that attach themselves to any teams that win trophies or have any period of major success. Even happened to Ipswich and Forest in the late 70s and early 80s.

They are punching way above their natural level currently and if Abramovich decides he has had enough they will go back to being a slightly bigger club than QPR.

I originally described the new screen idea as a waste of money.

However, having seen it today, it's pretty bloody decent. I think they've made good use of it with the showing of the line ups before/during the game - including who scored and who has yellow cards and highlights.

Don't think I've seen a screen at a ground before which is of that quality

Agreed.

There seemed to be a few teething issues but I think it will be fantastic addition going forward. Loved the vid just before the match too, some classic goals in there, and De La Cruz

They even showed some replays on the screen today, albeit about 5 mins after the action took place. But better than nothing at all
