Barry the bird boggler
MouldyRoyal Don't we usually play at home first weekend because of Reading Festival?

A 0-0 draw with Forest is the usual drudgery to look forward to.

24th Aug is Reading festival Saturday so we have to be away.

17th Aug should therefore be a home game

10th Aug away

Therefore 3rd Aug should be at home

HOWEVER

I would imagine that there will be at least 1 midweek league game before 24th Aug as the league will be looking to end the campaign as early as possible due to the World Cup. If there is a midweek league game then the chances are we'll be away from home on 3rd August so I reckon....

3rd August - (away)
7th August - League Cup 1
10th August - (home)
14th August - (home)
17th August - (away)
24th August - (away)
27th August - League Cup 2
31st August - (home)

But until the 19th June we will have no clue for certain whatsoever :)

In that case Bournemouth away, Leeds Home, Swindon Home, Brentford away :D

Well we now have the dates on which we will be playing at least: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/documents/fi ... 832469.pdf

No league midweek games in August so if probably start at home.

I haven't researched this but there often seems to be a game between a just-relegated team and a just-promoted team on the opening weekend so I'll go for Doncaster at home.

In regards to the not playing at home while Reading festival is on, didn't we once play at home on the August Bank Holiday Monday? Seem to recall playing Sunderland?

That's purely by chance - there's nothing in the fixture compilation process to make that happen.

Back when there were fixtures on that bank holiday monday we did play away saturday then home monday as fest is over by monday. However, due to the second round of the league cup having to be that week, there are no bank holiday fixtures so we will just be away on the Saturday.

We can technically play on Bank Holiday Monday - but only if it's a police-free fixture.

Hopefully one of the promoted sides at home so it gets picked for TV and I can watch it on holibobs, ditto the following weekend's away game (which I don't really want to be Yeovil)

Are you absolutely sure about that?

Even if it is police free I'd have thought they might want to have a few bobbies in reserve in case it goes to fisticuffs.

Sure we played Rotherham at home a few years back on that holiday Monday.

We have played at home on August Bank Holiday Monday down the years so it can be done, however plod these days will not countenance a home game on the Monday.

Of course if the League Cup 2nd Round is scheduled that week then it's irrelevant anyway as no-one will have a BH league fixture.

Probably Doncaster at home.

Expect Wigan to play Bournemouth and Yeovil to play QPR

I reckon we'll end up with Bournemouth or Yeovil on Boxing Day now that Cardiff and Bristol City are no longer in the championship.
