Big Foot
ayjaydee Always remember Charlton for the strangest named away pub I can recall - The Antigallican

(Spacey's favourite named pub as well - The Anti-Gallican Society was formed around 1745 in opposition to the influx of French goods then coming into England, and the pervasive cultural influence of France).

IIRC they also don't serve alcohol in the away end, therefore I am OUT

Any ground that does this should be burned to the ground

Mr.Swainey
Wycombe Royal I'm parking at the O2 and getting the bus or possibly walking.

Would you mind sharing more information about this, please?

I'm doing it because I am being a loving husband because after the football I am taking my wife to see Gary Barlow (so if we lose and then I have to endure that as well it is going to have been a really shit day).

But it is costing £21 for the whole day and isn't too far from the Valley, but not probably worth it just for the football unless there really is nowhere else to park.

I'm sure there is a fat busker performing somewhere. Same thing but much cheaper.

North Somerset Royal
3points thinking of taking my 74 year old dad. Anyone know if there's parking relatively nearby as he can't walk too far?

There is no parking at the ground for non permit holders and all the roads around the ground are residents only. The nearest place to park that I have found is on an industrial estate about 15 -20 mins walk to the away end. However the estate covers several roads so you could land up having to park further away if you don't get there early.

To reach the estate coming down Woolwich Rd from Blackwall Tunnel go past the ground on your right and then turn left down Westmoor Rd. You can park in that and adjoining roads and last time I got there about 2 hrs before ko and got a space about 300 yds down Westmoor.

Try the roads parallel to wyndcliffe road. They're about 10 mins from the ground and when I lived there 5 years ago, they weren't permit holders only.

Parking...there's a big Sainsbury's/B&Q car park just off the Woolwich Rd (A206) flyover. Probably about a 15 minute walk to The Valley from there. A206 comes off the A2 just before Blackwall Tunnel
Alternatively, loads of street parking at the top of the hill from the ground that is not residents only...come off A2 at Shooters Hill Rd, and then turn left onto Marlborough Lane, anywhere down there.

But it's so close to the railway station, best bet is the train

Oh really? I don't mind, quite like London Bridge for pubs so pretty easy!

What would be the best way to drive to this? Simple southbound M25 job, off before Dartford on the A2?

Will the Antigallican (or whatever) let people with under 18's in? Had that problem in Birmingham and Watford so!

Not wanting to sound like some kind of South London weirdo, but i have to say I've driven to Charlton and back a lot and have never found any quicker route other than m25 to a2.

You could go through town if you have hours to kill and want to sightsee. I'd prob cross the river around London bridge and pick up the a2 at the old Kent road.

The only other option is junc 8 of the m25, then chipstead, Coulsdon, south Croydon, beckenham, blackheath. But you need to know SE London well to save any significant amount of time.

Do not go the south circ. Nightmare, particularly on weekend.

Hope this helps.

No idea tbh mate, they certainly wont be allowed in at the pubs in LDN Bridge?

Think will do London Bridge, enjoyed that for the Milwall game, however would be nice to be in the same pub as some Royals!

Both The Shipwright and Market Porter were cool with it before Millwall actually!

I'm going with my Dad to the game (he lives in Kent), so will probably meet around Charlton area and go to The Antigallican. Possibly arrive there around 12.
