Chances are the online system will have problems again tomorrow morning as the online part has been offline for much of today.

Maguire
Seal So why don't we hold off until we see if that happens first?

Because if we do that then we might not be able to moan :!:

^^ this. I can't go more than a day without moaning FFS.

Royal Lady Have we had this problem before? It seems familiar. It is defo the club's fault - so heads should roll wherever the ticketing software is maintained - still feel sorry for anyone who won't get a ticket due to this glitch, who otherwise would have done. If you don't read HNA I presume you'd miss out on knowing this info?

Yes, and as mentioned earlier the club did not look into it and take any tickets off anyone. They also do look at this forum and are aware of today's problems.

Then they are lying to their customers, trying to say people who have applied for tickets online without correct points are themselves "lying".

Seal As others have said if the tickets go to general sale then the moaners' complaints are null and void in any case no?

So why don't we hold off until we see if that happens first?

The complaints might turn out to be null and void in this case. However, does that mean that we and the club should tolerate this repeated incompetence? If we do, the time will come when there is a repeat of this cock up and people do miss out. How absurd would that be. You can't change history but you sure as hell should learn from it.

Do the club only ever test these systems in live situations? If so, thank god those responsible never get near safety critical systems!

Why the hell don't they take the system off line during a quiet period and test Royalty point cut offs etc. then?

As always you wont be heard unless you make your point in writing and escalate it if you don't get a prompt response.

Compensation should therefore be awarded in the form of a ticket!

To be fair, the ordinary staff in the TO are unlikely to be responsible for problems such as this. They just have to deal with all of the fall out.

We used to have an outstanding TO manager but, IIRC, he was headhunted by one of the big PL Clubs - Chelsea? My memory is really going with age but the name David rings a vague bell.

Maguire
Ian Royal Yeah, damn me for making the effort to go to away games, and the last away game each season in particular, no matter how we're doing. It's not at all that loads of people are only interested in going to this game because we're doing well. Regardless of whether they go to a lot of home games.

ROFL!

5 of the last 6?

So before we were in the play-offs twice? And when we had a chance of Europe? And when we were in a relegation battle? Or when we were champions?

Jeez you're quite the trooper.

The only one I missed was Blackburn, because I literally had no way of getting there and back. I've only been going to away games since I left Reading in 2006.

Royal Lady Surely the people able to get tickets will have more points than you Ian so deserve it?!

I wouldn't begrudge them any other game. I didn't say they shouldn't be able to go. I said I'd be pissed off if the 1500 odd people it'll take preventing me getting a ticket, who've no interest in going to away games under other circumstances ruin my end of season ritual.

Frankly, for me, ME>>>>>>>>>Them.

How do you know they have no interest in going to any other away games?

Due to technical issues beyond the club's control, Birmingham tickets are not currently available online

Are they beyond their control or are they failing to control the system?

I should expect the IT boffins might be the escapegoat. Would the club have been able to monitor this if the system is automated. Now someone within the club has been notified i expect an attempt at a quick fix is being sought. If not then the loyalty point system will drop off before the fix and test are completed.

They've already failed on the quick fix. I am led to believe that they were aware of the problem yesterday (Tuesday) which is probably why the online ticketing was not available until after 11.00am today.

Knowing that they were likely to be using Royalty points as eligibility criteria at some time in the season, did they not test this and ensure that it worked when they first put the new system in? If not, why not? If they did and it was working, why should it now go wrong?

It worked fine for West Ham. When I bought my ticket I tried to buy tickets for my sons who have far less points than me but the system did not allow it until the day that it got down to their level.

Or Facebook

Or twitter

Or know anyone who reads any of the above.

Actually, my mum (who i go to games with - long story don't ask) told me that she was just checking the reading website randomly - she doesn't facebook/twitter/hobnob - she just tried her luck to see if it would work and it did. She then rang me having got all excited and the first thing i said was - i'll check HNA and see what people are saying on there - buy buy buy was my eventual response.
